A MEMBER OF THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD IS RESIGNING.    AT THIS WEEK’S REGULAR MEETING, LONG-TIME BOARD MEMBER RICK FREDRICKSON ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION.   FREDRICKSON WILL BE MOVING TO SPRINGFIELD TO SERVE AS THE PASTOR AT THE SPRINGFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.  HE WILL RESIGN HIS SEAT ON THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD EFFECTIVE ON MAY 31ST.  THE DISTRICT IS TAKING APPLICATIONS IN ORDER TO APPOINT SOMEONE TO FILL THE SEAT UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR.  THE SEAT WILL BE UP FOR ELECTION THIS FALL. 
THE FEDERATED RURAL ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION HAS ANNOUNCED ITS ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.   NINE AREA STUDENTS WILL EACH RECEIVE A 700-DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP TO SUPPORT THEIR FUTURE EDUCATION.  THE RECIPIENTS ARE COBIE ENGBARTH OF BREWSTER; EAN HOHENSTEIN OF LAKEFIELD; LANE HANSEN OF JACKSON; LOGAN POTTHOFF OF DUNNELL; EMMA BEHRENDS OF WELCOME; JAZLYN MEYER OF FAIRMONT; MATTHEW HOLM OF DUNNELL, AUSTIN YONKER OF BINGHAM LAKE, AND JESSICA CHRISTOFFER OF ROUND LAKE.
THE CITY OF JEFFERS IS HOLDING A SPRING CLEANUP PROGRAM THIS WEEK.   THERE IS A $20 CLEANUP FEE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE ITEMS PICKED UP AT YOUR RESIDENCE.  STOP AT THE JEFFERS CITY HALL BY THURSDAY TO PAY THE FEE AND SCHEDULE A STOP AT YOUR HOME.  THIS IS FOR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AND FURNITURE.  MATTRESSES AND CAR SETS WILL ALSO BE PICKED UP, BUT THERE MAY BE ADDITIONAL FEES FOR PEOPLE WITH LARGE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL.   APPLIANCES AND HOME ELECTRONICS MAY BE PICKED UP FOR A FEE.    
THE RED ROCK CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TODAY.     A SPECIAL SESSION WILL BE HELD AT 5:30 THIS AFTERNOON IN THE BOARD ROOM AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IN LAMBERTON.  BOARD MEMBERS AND ADMINISTRATORS WILL BE REVIEWING MATERIAL THAT WAS PROVIDED BY THE “INGENSA” COMPANY.  INGENSA IS A CONSULTING FIRM THAT WORKS WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS ON FACILITY ISSUES.  THE FIRM HELPED RED ROCK CENTRAL CONDUCT TWO RECENT COMMUNITY FORUMS TO COLLECT FEEDBACK FROM DISTRICT RESIDENTS. 
MORE AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES ARE BEING HELD IN THE AREA.    TODAY, A BLOOD DRIVE IS BEING HELD AT THE FULDA COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 1:00 UNTIL 7:00.   THERE WILL BE A TWO-DAY BLOOD DRIVE AT OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN JACKSON TODAY AND TOMORROW, WITH HOURS FROM 1:00 TO 6:00 TODAY AND 8:00AM UNTIL NOON TOMORROW.  ON THURSDAY, THERE WILL BE A RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE AT THE CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN SLAYTON FROM 1:00 UNTIL 7:00. ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED. 
THE LOCAL SONS OF NORWAY LODGE WILL HOLD A PUBLIC PROGRAM THIS WEEK.  THE STAVANGER LODGE WILL MEET AT 6:00 THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE COUNTY MUSEUM IN WINDOM.  THERE WILL BE A POT-LUCK SUPPER AT 6:00.   AT 7:00, THERE WILL BE A PROGRAM INCLUDING A CELEBRATION OF THE NORWEGIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY ON MAY 17TH.  THE GUEST SPEAKER WILL BE ROGER HELLESVIG OF MINNEAPOLIS.  HELLESVIG DOES HISTORICAL PRESENTATIONS, PORTRAYING A NORWEGIAN IMMIGRANT NAMED “OLE OLSESON.” 
THE WINDOM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MEETS AT NOON THURSDAY AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.     THE BOARD WILL HEAR THE ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE RIVER BLUFF TOWNHOMES, AND CONSIDER A NEW MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT.  THERE WILL BE DISCUSSION ON A PROPOSED SIGN FOR THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK, AND A FARM LEASE.  THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS A FILL AGREEMENT, AND A LOT AT THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK.  THE MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT WILL BE PRESENTED.
