THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING LAST WEEK.   THE BOARD CALLED FOR THE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTIES.  A BID WAS ACCEPTED FOR THE ‘SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL’ PROJECT IN WINDOM.  SEVERAL CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS WERE APPROVED, INCLUDING PERMITS FOR A GARAGE, A STORAGE BUILDING, AND A PERMIT TO EXPAND A SAND PIT.  THE COUNTY ASSESSOR REPORTED ON THE UPCOMING COUNTY BOARD OF APPEAL.  THE BOARD VOTED TO ADVERTISE AN OPENING FOR A FULL-TIME APPRAISER. 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK.   RICK FREDRICKSON WAS RECOGNIZED FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.  THE BOARD VOTED TO APPOINT ANGIE KLASSEN TO FILL FREDRICKSON’S SEAT FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.  FILING DATES WERE SET FOR THE FALL SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS, WITH FILING FROM JULY 31ST TO AUGUST 14TH.  THREE SEATS WILL BE UP FOR ELECTION.   THE BOARD VOTED TO HIRE THE P-F-M ASSET MANAGEMENT FIRM TO PROVIDE INVESTMENT SERVICES FOR THE BUILDING BOND SALE. 
THE 2018 FULDA WOOD DUCK FESTIVAL IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.    THE THEME IS LEARNING FOR A LIFETIME, SALUTING THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN SCHOOL.  THE MISS FULDA PAGEANT WILL BE HELD TONIGHT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL GYM.  THE DOORS WILL OPEN AT 5:45.  THERE ARE THREE CONTESTANTS THIS YEAR – ALLISON KENNEY, AMBER BREUKER, AND CAMILLE PAULZINE.  THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE A $500 SCHOLARSHIP.  THE RUNNERS-UP RECEIVE A $250 SCHOLARSHIP.  THERE WILL BE A RECEPTION IN THE CAFETERIA AFTER THE PAGENT.
THE WINDOM TELE-COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION MEETS AT 6:00 TONIGHT AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   UNDER NEW BUSINESS, THE COMMISSION WILL REVIEW A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT FOR OVER-THE-AIR VIDEO SERVICES.  THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON INTERNET TRANSPORT AGREEMENTS.  A DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD ON SERVICE RATES.  THE COMMISSION WILL CONTINUE TO REVIEW OPTIONS FOR A NEW STREAMING VIDEO SERVICE, WHICH WOULD REPLACE THE CURRENT CABLE T-V SYSTEM. 
THE LAKEFIELD SUMMERFEST IS TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK.    THE THEME IS “LIVING THE SWEET LIFE.”  RAFFLE TICKETS ARE ON SALE.  BUTTONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR $5.  TODAY, THE LITTLE MISS AND MISTER LAKEFIELD PAGEANT WILL BE HELD AT THE PARK AT 6:00.  THERE WILL BE FREE CHILDREN’S GAMES AFTER THE PAGEANT.  A LIP-SYNC BATTLE WILL BE HELD AT THE PARK AT 7:30.  ON THURSDAY, THE LAKEFIELD LIBRARY WILL HAVE LIVE MUSIC WITH THE SUTTER BROTHERS FROM 10:00 TO 11:00 AND 1:00 TO 2:00. 
THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY WILL HOLD A BOARD MEETING AT 9:00 THURSDAY MORNING IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER IN WINDOM.     THERE WILL BE PROGRAM REPORTS FROM THE CENTER FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT, THE SOCIAL SERVICE SUPERVISOR, AND A CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR.  THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL REPORT ON ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR A COMMUNITY WELLNESS GRANT.
