A REGULAR MEETING OF THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD IS BEING HELD THIS MORNING.   THERE WILL BE A NOTICE OF DECISION ON AN APPLICATION UNDER THE WETLAND CONSERVATION ACT.  THE BOARD WILL REVIEW WINTER SNOW MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS.  THEY WILL DISCUSS THE PURCHASE OF A NEW LOADER FOR THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT.  INFORMATION WILL BE PRESENTED ON A REQUEST FROM THE CITY OF WESTBROOK FOR A VARIANCE IN PARKING STANDARDS.  TWO MEMBERS WILL BE APPOINTED TO THE RED ROCK RURAL WATER BOARD.  
 
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET THIS MORNING.   THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE FROM THE VETERANS’ SERVICE OFFICER.  FINAL PAYMENTS WILL BE APPROVED FOR ROAD SURFACING PROJECTS AND A BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT.  AN APPLICATION FOR A SEPTIC SYSTEM LOAN WILL BE CONSIDERED.  THE BOARD WILL APPROVE AN AGREEMENT FOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT FOR MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SERVICES.  APPOINTMENTS WILL BE MADE TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD AND THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.   
 
THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD MEETS TODAY IN REGULAR SESSION.   THE BOARD WILL APPROVE THE SALE OF DRAINAGE BONDS.  THEY WILL REVIEW A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH A COMPUTER COOPERATIVE.  THE BOARD WILL REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT OF PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR FLOOD DAMAGE.  THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WILL REPORT ON A DETOUR AGREEMENT.  THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER THE PURCHASE OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR A COUNTY PARK.  THE COUNTY COORDINATOR WILL DISCUSS SOME PERSONNEL MATTERS.   
 
THIS IS WINTER HAZARD AWARENESS WEEK IN MINNESOTA.   TODAY’S TOPIC IS OUTDOOR WINTER SAFETY.  PEOPLE DIE EVERY YEAR AFTER FALLING THROUGH ICE ON RIVERS AND LAKES.  NEVER WALK ON ICE THAT IS LESS THAN 4” THICK.  CHILDREN SHOULD BE SUPERVISED WHEN SLEDDING OR ICE SKATING.  ADULTS SHOULD AVOID USING ALCOHOL WHEN OPERATING SNOWMOBILES OR OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.   FROSTBITE MAY OCURR FROM OVER-EXPOSURE TO COLD WEATHER.  BE CAREFUL WHEN SHOVELING SHOW – COLD WEATHER PUTS AN EXTRA STRAIN ON THE HEART.   
 
THE WINDOM CITY COUNCIL MEETS AT 8:05 THIS EVENING AFTER THE POLLS CLOSE.  THE WINDOM AREA HOSPITAL WILL MAKE A PRESENTATION ON ITS “RE-BRANDING” PROPOSAL.  THE TELE-COMM COMMISSION WILL DISCUSS ITS RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE CABLE T-V SYSTEM WITH A STREAMING VIDEO PRODUCT.  THE COMMUNITY CENTER COMMISSION WILL HAVE A RECOMMENDATION ON NEW RENTAL RATES.  THE COUNCIL WILL REVIEW ENGINEERING PROPOSALS FOR A WATER DRAINAGE STUDY AT RED LEAF COURT AND 18TH AVENUE.        
 
TODAY IS ELECTION DAY.     KDOM RADIO WILL HAVE ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE; OUR REPORTS ARE SPONSORED BY 5-STAR REALTY.  REPORTS WILL BE PROVIDED ON LOCAL CITY AND COUNTY RACES, SCHOOL BOARD RACES, AND RACES FOR THE STATE LEGISLATURE.  REPORTS ON STATE-WIDE RACES WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE MINNESOTA NEWS NETWORK.   REPORTS ON THE NATIONAL ELECTION SCENE WILL BE PROVIDED BY A-B-C RADIO.  THE POLLS CLOSE AT 8:00PM.  EXPECT LOCAL RETURNS TO BE AVAILABLE AFTER 9:00PM.   
 
THE GOOD SAMARITAN SOCIETY IN MT LAKE IS HOLDING A TURKEY SUPPER THIS EVENING.    THE MEAL WILL BE SERVED FROM 5:00 TO 7:00PM IN THE SUNROOM AT THE GOOD SAMARITAN VILLAGE IN MT LAKE.  THE MENU WILL INCLUDE TURKEY, DRESSING, POTATOES AND MORE.  PEOPLE MAY ALSO CHOOSE AN ALTERNATE MEAL WITH ROAST BEEF.  TAKE-OUT MEALS WILL BE AVAILABLE.  THE COST IS $8 FOR ADULTS; $4 FOR STUDENTS; CHILDREN 5-AND-UNDER EAT FOR FREE.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND.              
 
A MEETING OF THE HERON LAKE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   THERE WILL BE AN ASSESSMENT HEARING AT 7:00 TO DISCUSS UNPAID BILLS FOR CITY SERVICES.   IN THE REGULAR MEETING, THE COUCNIL WILL HEAR AN UPDATE FROM MINN-DOT ON THE REDUCED CONFLICT INTERSECTION PROJECT.  SOME TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTY WILL BE OFFERED FOR SALE.  CIGARETTE AND LIQUOR LICENSES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR RENEWAL.  TWO ZONING PERMIT APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED.
