HOLIDAY MUSIC CONCERTS WILL BE HELD TODAY AT LOCAL SCHOOLS.   WINDOM WILL PRESENT THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY CHOIR CONCERT AT 6:30 TONIGHT IN THE GOLD GYM.  THERE WILL BE PERFORMANCES BY THE 7TH AND 8TH-GRADE CHOIR, THE 9TH AND 10TH-GRADE CHOIR, AND THE EAGLE CONCERT CHOIR.  SMALL GROUP PERFORMANCES WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE MIXED POP GROUP, THE GIRLS POP GROUP, THE GUYS 50’s GROUP AND THE GIRLS 50’s GROUP.   MT LAKE WILL HAVE AN ELEMENTARY BAND AND CHOIR CONCERT THIS EVENING AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM.   

THE NEW PHARMACY WILL BE OPENING THIS WEEK AT HY VEE IN WINDOM.    THE PHARMACY, LOCATED INSIDE THE WINDOM HY VEE STORE, WILL OFFICIALLY OPEN AT 8:00 TUESDAY MORNING.  REGULAR HOURS WILL BE FROM 8:00AM TO 7:00PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY; 8:00 TO 5:00 ON SATURDAY; AND 10:00 TO 2:00 ON SUNDAY.   THEY WILL BE OFFERING FREE PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY AND AUTOMATED REFILL ORDERING.  EACH PERSON WHO FILLS A NEW PRESCRIPTION, OR REFILLS AN EXISTING PRESCRIPTION, WILL RECEIVE A 5-CENT PER GALLON FUEL SAVER DISCOUNT. 

A MEETING OF THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD LAST WEEK.   THE COUNCIL ADOPTED NEW UTILITY RATES FOR 2019.   ELECTRIC SERVICE WILL BE GOING UP BY 4.5%, WITH A BASE CHARGE OF $13 FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.   THE BASE RATE FOR WATER SERVICE WILL GO TO $31.02 FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS, PLUS CHARGES FOR MONTHLY USAGE.   FOR SEWER CUSTOMERS, THE BASE RATE WILL GO TO 442.23 FOR RESIDENTIAL SERVICE, PLUS MONTHLY USAGE CHARGES.  THE COUNCIL ALSO REVIEWED ESTIMATES FOR NEW FLOORING AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER.      

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IS SEEKING MORE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH LOCAL EMERGENCIES.   LOCAL DISASTER RESPONSE VOLUNTEERS AGREE TO ASSIST THEIR NEIGHBORS AFTER EMERGENCIES, INCLUDING HOUSE FIRES.   MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED IN COTTONWOOD, JACKSON, NOBLES AND ROCK COUNTIES.   VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE FREE TRAINING, AND ARE CONTACTED IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.  IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT BECOMING A VOLUNTEER, CALL (612) 391-1923.  THERE WILL BE A CONFERENCE CALL AT 6:00 TUESDAY EVENING.

THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET TUESDAY MORNING.  THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER A SEPTIC SYSTEM GRANT AGREEMENT.  A NEW TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT WITH UNITED COMMUNITY ACTION WILL BE REVIEWED.  THE BOARD WILL REVIEW A JOINT-POWERS AGREEMENT WITH A COMPUTER COOPERATIVE.  AN UPDATE WILL BE PROVIDED ON A WIND-FARM PROJECT.  A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE SCHEDULED ON THE 2019 COUNTY FEE SCHEDULE.   THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS THE RESIGNATION OF THE COUNTY COORDINATOR.
