THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT 4:15 THIS AFTERNOON.   THERE WILL BE A REPORT ON THE STONE HOUSE AT PAT’S GROVE PARK.  THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR WILL PRESENT THE YEAR-END REPORT FOR THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT.   THE 2017 COUNTY AUDIT REPORT WILL BE PRESENTED.  THE BOARD WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR A HOUSING TAX ABATEMENT.  SOME PERSONNEL MATTERS WILL BE REVIEWED.  THE TRUTH-IN-TAXATION HEARING WILL BE HELD AT 6:00 WEDNESDAY EVENING.   

 

THE HERON LAKE CITY COUNCIL MEETS THIS EVENING.  THE TRUTH-IN-TAXATION HEARING WILL BE HELD AT 7:00.   DURING THE REGULAR MEETING, THE COUNCIL WILL CERTIFY THE FINAL 2019 PROPERTY TAX LEVY.  A DONATION WILL BE ACCEPTED ON BEHALF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND E-M-S.  A NEW MEMBER WILL BE APPOINTED TO THE LIBRARY BOARD.  A RESIGNATION WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM A MEMBER OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.  THE HERON LAKE LIQUOR STORE WILL HAVE AN INSPECTION REPORT, AND A REQUEST TO ADD A SATELLITE DISH FOR T-V SERVICE.   

 

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IS SEEKING MORE VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH LOCAL EMERGENCIES.    LOCAL DISASTER RESPONSE VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE HELP AFTER EMERGENCIES INCLUDING HOUSE FIRES.   MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED IN COTTONWOOD, JACKSON, NOBLES AND ROCK COUNTIES.  VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE FREE TRAINING.  TO LEARN MORE, YOU CAN TAKE PART IN A 30-MINUTE CONFERENCE CALL.   CALLS WILL BE HELD AT 8:00 THURSDAY MORNING, AT NOON ON SATURDAY, OR NEXT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.  CALL (612) 391-1923 FOR MORE INFORMATION.   

 

THE MONTHLY WEATHER STATISTICS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR THE CITY OF WINDOM IN NOVEMBER.    TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH CAME TO 1.26.”   WINDOM RECEIVED 4” OF SNOW IN NOVEMBER.  FOR THE YEAR TO DATE, WINDOM HAS NOW RECEIVED TOTAL PRECIPITATION OF 41.8” – ALMOST 8” MORE THAN THE SAME TIME LAST YEAR.   THE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN NOVEMBER WAS 59-DEGREES ON THE 1ST.   THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS 36.6 DEGREES.   THE LOW TEMP WAS 3-BELOW ZERO ON NOVEMBER 18TH, WITH AN AVERAGE DAILY LOW OF 19.7-DEGREES. 

 

MORE AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES ARE BEING HELD IN THE AREA.  TODAY, THERE WILL BE A BLOOD DRIVE AT THE FULDA COMMUNITY CENTER, WITH HOURS FROM 12:30 UNTIL 6:30.  ON FRIDAY, THERE WILL BE A BLOOD DRIVE AT THE STORDEN AMERICAN LEGION FROM 11:30 UNTIL 5:30.  DONORS SHOULD WEIGH 110 POUNDS AND BE IN GOOD GENERAL HEALTH.  YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW IDENTIFICATION AT CHECK-IN.  FOR MORE INFORMATION, GO ONLINE TO www.redcrossblood.org.      

 

THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD WILL MEET AT 3:00 THURSDAY AFTERNOON.   THEY WILL CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD.  THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A TOBACCO LICENSE.  THE BOARD WILL REVIEW A STATE GRANT AGREEMENT FOR A BRIDGE PROJECT.  THEY WILL CONSIDER AN AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FROM THE SOUTHWEST REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION.  2019 SALARIES WILL BE SET FOR COUNTY BOARD MEMBERS, AND FOR COUNTY ELECTED OFFICIALS.   THE TRUTH-IN-TAXATION HEARING WILL BE HELD AT 6:00PM.
