A SUB-REGIONAL JUNIOR HIGH KNOWLEDGE BOWL MEET WAS HELD MONDAY IN MARSHALL.   THERE WERE 56 TEAMS IN THE MEET.  THE TOP HALF OF TEAMS WILL ADVANCE TO THE SUPER-REGIONAL MEET IN MARSHALL THIS THURSDAY.  A TEAM FROM JACKSON COUNTY CENTRAL FINISHED IN 1ST PLACE.  THE MT LAKE PUBLIC SCHOOL “OLIVE” TEAM WAS 3RD.  AMONG OTHER TEAMS ADVANCING TO THE NEXT ROUND WERE TWO TEAMS FROM WESTBROOK-WALNUT GROVE; TWO MORE TEAMS FROM MT LAKE PUBLIC SCHOOL, A TEAM FROM MT LAKE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, AND A TEAM FROM WINDOM ADVANCED TO THE NEXT ROUND.  WINDOM HAD TWO TEAMS AT THE MEET.   
 
THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY WILL HOLD A BOARD MEETING AT 9:00 THURSDAY MORNING IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER IN WINDOM.   ELECTION OF OFFICERS WILL BE HELD.  APPOINTMENTS WILL BE MADE TO A NUMBER OF COMMITTEES.  A MEETING SCHEDULE WILL BE ADOPTED FOR 2019.  THE OFFICIAL NEWSPAPERS AND DEPOSITORIES WILL BE DESIGNATED.  A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WILL BE APPROVED FOR A CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM.  A SOCIAL WORKER WILL BE HIRED. 
 
THE FULDA CITY COUNCIL HELD A REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK.    A VACANCY WAS DECLARED ON THE COUNCIL.  CHAD OUELETTE WAS RECENTLY ELECTED AS MAYOR AND HAD TO RESIGN HIS SEAT ON THE COUNCIL.   THE COUNCIL APPOINTED RANDY DIERKS AND JIM BROWN TO FILL VACANT COUNCIL POSITIONS.  A NUMBER OF ANNUAL APPOINTMENTS AND DESIGNATIONS WERE APPROVED.  A RESIGNATION WAS ACCEPTED FROM PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT NEAL FRODERMAN.  THERE WAS A PROGRESS REPORT ON THE DRILLING OF A NEW CITY WELL.   
 
THE MT LAKE SCHOOL BOARD HELD AN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING THIS WEEK.     ELECTION OF OFFICERS WAS HELD, WITH CHAD PETERSON ELECTED AS CHAIRPERSON, TOM FAST AS VICE-CHAIR, JULIE BRUGMAN AS CLERK, AND PAM HOEK AS TREASURER.  RETURNING BOARD MEMBERS TOOK THE OATH OF OFFICE.  THE BOARD APPROVED A NUMBER OF COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS, ANNUAL APPOINTMENTS AND DESIGNATIONS.  PERSONNEL WERE DESIGNATED TO HANDLE FINANCIAL BUSINESS ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT.  THE BOARD WILL HOLD ITS NEXT REGULAR MEETING ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 22ND.   
  
THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HELD A REGULAR MEETING LAST WEEK.    ORGANIZATIONAL BUSINESS INCLUDED SETTING SOLID WASTE ASSESSMENTS, 9-1-1 SIGN ASSESSMENTS, THE BEAVER CONTROL FEE AND THE POCKET GOPHER BOUNTY.  2019 TOBACCO LICENSES WERE APPROVED.  A NEW CONTRACT WAS APPROVED WITH A FIRM THAT PROVIDES SOFTWARE SERVICES FOR THE LAND RECORDS OFFICE.  A RETAINER WAS APPROVED FOR LEGAL SERVICES.  AN AGREEMENT WAS APPROVED WITH THE SW REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, TO ASSIST IN UPDATING LAND-USE ORDINANCES.    
 
THE AMERICAN LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WINDOM IS HOSTING ITS ANNUAL LUTEFISK SUPPER THIS WEEKEND.    SERVING WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 5:00 TO 7:00 SATURDAY EVENING AT THE CHURCH ON PROSPECT AVENUE.  ADVANCE TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CHURCH OFFICE AT 831-1794.  A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR ON SATURDAY.  THE MENU WILL INCLUDE LUTEFISK, LEFSE, MEATBALLS, RICE PUDDING AND VEGETABLES, ALONG WITH A BEVERAGE.  THERE WILL BE A ‘SECONDS’ TABLE.  TICKETS ARE $15 FOR ADULTS; CHILDREN 12-AND-UNDER WILL EAT FOR $5.
