THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL HOLDS A REGULAR MEETING AT 6:30 THIS EVENING AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   INFORMATION WILL BE PRESENTED ON THE PROPOSED E-D-A DOWNTOWN HOUSING PROJECT.  THE COUNCIL WILL CALL FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON A TAX ABATEMENT FOR THE PROJECT.  THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON THE RENOVATION OF THE MT LAKE COMMUNITY CENTER.  BILLS WILL BE REVIEWED FOR MATERIALS AND INSTALLATION OF NEW FLOORING.  THE COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER BIDS FOR SOME ADDITIONAL WORK IN THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS. 
 
THE CLASS ‘A’ STATE SPEECH CONTEST WAS HELD FRIDAY AT WAYZATA HIGH SCHOOL.  AMONG AREA STUDENTS, SARAH DUNN OF SPRINGFIELD TOOK 1ST PLACE IN HUMOROUS INTERPREATION.  CALE ENGELKES OF MURRAY COUNTY CENTRAL WAS 2ND IN STORYTELLING; MEGAN BUSMAN OF MURRAY COUNTY CENTRAL WAS 4TH IN GREAT SPEECHES.  WINDOM HAD SIX STUDENTS COMPETING AT STATE SPEECH; NONE OF THE WINDOM STUDENTS MADE THE FINALS IN THEIR CATEGORIES.  THE WINDOM COMPETITORS WERE BRIGITTE BEALL, JESUS CAZARES-REYES, SHELBY ERICKSON, VICTORIA SCHUTZ, GRACE BECKER AND LAUREN KELLY. 
 
THE CITY OF WINDOM IS MOVING FORWARD WITH THE PROCESS TO AMEND THE CITY CHARTER.   A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD AT TUESDAY’S CITY COUNCIL MEETING.   AMONG THE PROPOSED CHANGES, THERE WILL BE A TECHNICAL ADJUSTMENT IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE CITY BOUNDARIES.   OTHER CHANGES INVOLVE THE PROCEDURE FOR FILLING A VACANCY ON THE CITY COUNCIL; CHANGES TO THE SECTION LISTING THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE MAYOR; CHANGES ON HOW THE COUNCIL WILL HANDLE RESOLUTIONS; CHANGES TO THE LISTING OF CITY DEPARTMENTS; AND THE DATE OF ADOPTION FOR THE CHARTER.  
         
A MEETING OF THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD WILL BE HELD AT 9:00 TUESDAY MORNING IN THE BOARD ROOM AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN WINDOM.    INFORMATION WILL BE PRESENTED ON A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WITH THE U-S FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE.  THERE WILL BE A REPORT ON A WETLAND CONSERVATION ACT PROJECT. MINN-DOT WILL REPORT ON A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ON HIGHWAY 30.  BIDS WILL BE REVIEWED FOR A PROJECT ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 5.  THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS THE PURCHASE OF A SNOW-PLOW TRUCK.   
 
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT 9:00 TUESDAY MORNING AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN JACKSON.   THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WILL REVIEW BIDS FOR A MICRO-SURFACING PROJECT.  THEY WILL DISCUSS UTILITY PERMITS FOR RED ROCK RURAL WATER.   THE BOARD WILL HEAR A PRESENTATION FROM THE HERON LAKE WATERSHED DISTRICT.   AN APPLICATION WILL BE PRESENTED FOR A LIQUOR LICENSE.  A PRESENTATION WILL BE MADE ON DITCH VIEWING SERVICES.   RETIRING COMMITTEE MEMBERS WILL BE RECOGNIZED. 
 
THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT 8:30 TUESDAY MORNING AT THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT BUILDING IN SLAYTON.    2019 LIQUOR LICENSES WILL BE APPROVED.   THE BOARD WILL APPROVE THE HIRING OF A AUDITING FIRM.  A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE SCHEDULED ON A DITCH PROJECT.  THE BOARD WILL HEAR A REQUEST FOR FUNDING FROM THE SOIL-AND-WATER DISTRICT OFFICE.  THE BOARD WILL HEAR THE ANNUAL REPORT FROM PIONEER PUBLIC TELEVISION.  BIDS WILL BE OPENED FOR UPCOMING HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS.
