WINDOM AREA HEALTH IS HOLDING A GRAND OPENING FOR ITS REMODELED REHAB AREA.   THE EVENT WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY FROM 5:00 UNTIL 7:00PM.  PLEASE USE ENTRANCE “B” AND ENTER THROUGH THE REHABILITATION AND FITNESS CENTER.  TOURS OF THE NEW FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT WILL BE OFFERED. REFRESHMENTS AND SNACKS WILL BE AVAILABLE.  THE CAFETERIA WILL BE OFFERING FOOD SPECIALS.  THE FORMER OPERATING ROOM AREA WAS RENOVATED FOR USE BY THE THERAPY DEPARTMENT.  THE NEW SPACE WILL ALLOW PRIVATE ROOMS FOR TREATMENT, AND A LARGER OPEN GYM AREA WITH ROOM FOR MORE EQUIPMENT.   
 
OFFICIALS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR ARE STOPPING IN WINDOM TODAY.  THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY WILL BE VISITING WINDOM BUSINESSES.  THE VISITS ARE TYPICALLY FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.  THE LABOR STANDARDS UNIT MEETS WITH EMPLOYERS TO SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT STATE LAWS.  STATE OFFICIALS WILL INTRODUCE THEMSELVES AND HELP BUSINESSES ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THEY MIGHT HAVE ABOUT ISSUES SUCH AS MINIMUM WAGE, PARENTAL LEAVE, OVERTIME AND OTHER STATE LABOR LAWS.   
 
THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL HOLDS A SPECIAL MEETING AT 6:30 THIS EVENING AT THE MT LAKE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.  A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD ON THE PROPOSED USE OF PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENTS FOR THE DOWNTOWN HOUSING PROJECT.  MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE COMMENTS. THE COUNCIL WILL REVIEW AN APPLICATION FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, AND MAY TAKE ACTION TO APPROVE THE PERMIT.  THE COUNCIL WILL ALSO REVIEW A RESOLUTION, APPROVING THE USE OF TAX ABATEMENTS FOR THE SITE.   A RESOLUTION MAY BE CONSIDERED TO AUTHORIZE A BOND SALE FOR THE PROJECT. 
 
THE WINDOM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETS AT 7:00 TONIGHT AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   COMMISSION MEMBERS AND CITY STAFF WILL BE HOLDING PRELIMINARY DISCUSSIONS ON POSSIBLE CHANGES IN CITY POLICY FOR DEALING WITH SMALLER LOTS, AND LOTS THAT ARE CONSIDERED TO BE UNBUILDABLE. THE COMMISSION WILL DISCUSS A POSSIBLE REVIEW OF THE CITY CODE BOOK.  THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON THE ZONING APPLICATION FOR THE POSSIBLE RE-DEVELOPMENT OF THE GUARDIAN INN PROPERTY.   
 
WINDOM CITY RESIDENTS MAY RECYCLE MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS AS PART OF THE CITY-WIDE CLEANUP.    MATTRESS AND CAR-SEAT RECYCLING WILL TAKE PLACE THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.  FOR MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS, THERE WILL BE A DISCOUNTED FEE OF $7 FOR EACH PIECE, WITH A MAXIMUM OF FOUR TAGS PER ADDRESS AT THE DISCOUNTED RATE.  TAGS MUST BE PURCHASED AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL OFFICE BY THURSDAY.  MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS THAT DO NOT HAVE A TAG WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.  MATTRESSES SHOULD BE AT THE CURB BY 8:00 THURSDAY MORNING.
