THE WINDOM E-D-A MET LAST WEEK.   THE BOARD HEARD THE ANNUAL REPORT FROM THE RIVER BLUFF TOWNHOMES.  THE BOARD APPROVED A PLAN TO IMPROVE STORM WATER DRAINAGE AT THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK.  THE BOARD REVIEWED THE PLAN FOR “TIF” DISTRICT 1-22.  THE BOARD WENT INTO CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS LAND NEGOTIATIONS FOR PROPERTY AT THE INDUSTRIAL PARK.  NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.  THE E-D-A IS TALKING TO CEMSTONE ABOUT A POSSIBLE LAND SWAP.  THE OUTLINES OF A POSSIBLE AGREEMENT HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED. 
 
THE 85TH ANNUAL MT LAKE POW-WOW CELEBRATION IS BEING HELD TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY.   THE MISS MT LAKE PAGEANT WILL BE HELD AT 7:00 TONIGHT AT ‘BARC’ IN WINDOM.  THE THEME IS “THE WIZARD OF OZ.”  THERE ARE SIX CANDIDATES FOR MISS MT LAKE, AND 10 GIRLS FROM THE 2ND GRADE IN THE LITTLE MISS MT LAKE PROGRAM.   POW-WOW ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE ON SATURDAY WITH THE TRACTOR-CADE, THE MAYOR’S BIKE RIDE, ALUMNI SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL GAMES, AND LIVE MUSIC AT THE DEN.   
 
THE 2019 FULDA WOOD DUCK FESTIVAL CONTINUES.    A COMMUNITY SUPPER WILL BE HELD AT CITY HALL AT 4:30. THERE WILL BE AN ICE-CREAM STAND IN THE CITY PARK.  BINGO WILL BE PLAYED AT 5:00.  THE CARNIVAL WILL BE OPEN FROM 5:00 UNTIL MIDNIGHT.  A SAND VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT WILL BE HELD AT SEVEN MILE PARK.  THE KIDDIE PARADE WILL BE HELD AT 6:00.   A HIGH SCHOOL BAND CONCERT WILL BE HELD AT 7:00.  THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STREET DANCE BEGINS AT 9:00 WITH MUSIC BY ‘JUDD HOOS.’   THERE WILL BE FIREWORKS AT THE LAKE AT DARK.   
 
THE LAKEFIELD SUMMERFEST IS TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK.    THE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS HOSTING A LUNCH BRUNCH TODAY WITH LUNCH AND CRAFTS.  A STEAK-AND-SHRIMP FEED WILL BE HELD AT THE LAKEFIELD V-F-W AT 5:00.  A PORK-BURGER FEED WILL BE HELD AT THE NORTH CITY PARK AT 5:30.  THERE WILL BE A FAMILY FUN NIGHT AT NORTH CITY PARK FROM 4:30 TO 7:30.  AN EXTREME SCAVENGER HUNT, FOR KIDS 11-TO-18, WILL BE HELD AT 7:00 AT THE PARK.  THE V-F-W AND THE SHED WILL EACH HAVE MUSIC AND DANCING THIS EVENING.   
 
ST. JAMES HAS RESCHEDULED ITS “HOT DOG DAYS” EVENT.     HOT DOG DAYS WILL BE HELD THIS SATURDAY, RAIN OR SHINE, FROM 11:00 TO 1:00.  NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WILL BE SELLING HOT DOGS.  SEVERAL GROUPS WILL BE SET UP ON 1ST AVENUE SOUTH IN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT.  THERE WILL ALSO BE HOT DOGS AVAILABLE AT THE YOUTH FOR CHRIST BUILDING AND FLEET-AND-FARM.  A NUMBER OF ST. JAMES BUSINESSES WILL BE HOSTING ‘CRAZY DAYS’ ON SATURDAY WITH SALES AND SPECIAL OFFERS.    
 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING EARLIER THIS WEEK.   A NUMBER OF PERSONNEL ITEMS WERE HANDLED DURING THE CONSENT AGENDA.  THE BOARD APPROVED A STIPEND FOR DANE NIELSEN TO SERVE AS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR.  TENURE WAS APPROVED FOR SEVERAL TEACHERS.  A NUMBER OF DONATIONS TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WERE ACCEPTED, INCLUDING THE DONATION OF A 2003 DODGE PICKUP FROM TRAVIS HODKIN, FOR USE BY THE INDUSTRIAL TECH AND AG CLASSES.   
 
 THE WINDOM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MET THIS WEEK.   COMMISSION MEMBERS REVIEWED PLANS FOR A TAX INCREMENT FINANCING DISTRICT.  THEY REVIEWED A MODIFIED PROGRAM FOR DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT #1.   THE COMMISSION VERIFIED THAT THE “TIF” PLAN CONFORMS WITH THE GUIDELINES IN THE CITY’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.  THE COMMISSION ALSO DISCUSSED THE GUARDIAN INN PROPERTY.   THE DEVELOPER WAS GIVEN A 60-DAY EXTENSION ON THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING A FINAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SITE.
