THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY WILL HOLD A BOARD MEETING AT 9:00 THIS MORNING IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER IN WINDOM.  A NUTRITION EDUCATOR WILL HAVE A PRESENTATION ON THE “WIC” BREAST-FEEDING PROGRAM.  THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS THE USE OF A MANAGED-CARE ORGANIZATION TO WORK WITH RECIPIENTS OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND MINNESOTA CARE.  OTHER REPORTS MAY BE PROVIDED BY THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT. 
 
KDOM RADIO SALUTES ITS “GOOD NEWS” SPONSOR OF THE DAY, THE MT LAKE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.  THE 85TH ANNUAL MT LAKE POW-WOW CELEBRATION IS BEING HELD.  THE MISS MT LAKE PAGEANT WILL BE HELD FRIDAY EVENING AT ‘BARC’ IN WINDOM, DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT THE MT LAKE PUBLIC SCHOOL.  EVENTS WILL CONTINUE ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY AND TUESDAY.  HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE THE MT LAKE ROAD RACES AND THE ANTIQUE CAR PARADE ON SUNDAY; THE GRAND PARADE ON MONDAY, AND MUSIC WITH THE JEREMY POLAND BAND TUESDAY, FOLLOWED BY THE BIG RAFFLE DRAWING.   
 
THE 2019 FULDA WOOD DUCK FESTIVAL IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.   THE THEME IS “GROW WITH US.”  TODAY, A COMMUNITY SUPPER WILL BE HELD IN THE PARK, AS A FUND-RAISER FOR THE VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM.  THE FULDA SCHOLARSHIP EVENT – FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE MISS FULDA CONTEST – WILL BE HELD AT THE CITY PARK AT 5:30.  THE FULDA AREA BIG BAND WILL GIVE A CONCERT AT THE CITY PARK AT 6:15.  THE CARNIVAL, WITH MIDWEST RIDES, WILL BE OPEN FROM 5:00 UNTIL 9:00 THIS EVENING.   
 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK.   THE BOARD AGREED TO ADD TWO DAYS OF PAY FOR EMPLOYEES WHO LOST TIME DUE TO BAD WEATHER DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.  THE BOARD APPROVED THE TERMINATION OF A TEACHING CONTRACT FOR A PROBATIONARY TEACHER.  CHANGES WERE APPROVED IN THE POLICY DEALING WITH THE DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS MATERIAL.  THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE TIMETABLE FOR COMPLETING THE ANNUAL EVALUATION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT.  THE BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE REPORTED ON PLANNING FOR THE CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROJECT.  
 
THE LAKEFIELD SUMMERFEST IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.   THE THEME IS “THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME.”  THE PUBLIC LIBRARY WILL HAVE A CARNIVAL AT THE LIBRARY TODAY.  THERE WILL BE A COMMUNITY PICNIC IN THE PARK AT 5:00, SPONSORED BY EXTENDED AG INSURANCE AND EXTENDED AG SERVICES, WITH FOOD AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT.  THE LAKEFIELD LIONS WILL BE PLAYING BINGO AT NORTH CITY PARK AT 7:00 TONIGHT.  A LATE SWIM WILL BE HELD AT THE LAKEFIELD POOL AT 9:00 TONIGHT.   
    
THE WINDOM E-D-A MET LAST WEEK.   THE BOARD HEARD THE ANNUAL REPORT FROM THE RIVER BLUFF TOWNHOMES.  THE BOARD APPROVED A PLAN TO IMPROVE STORM WATER DRAINAGE AT THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK.  THE BOARD REVIEWED THE PLAN FOR “TIF” DISTRICT 1-22.  THE BOARD WENT INTO CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS LAND NEGOTIATIONS FOR PROPERTY AT THE INDUSTRIAL PARK.  NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.  THE E-D-A IS TALKING TO CEMSTONE ABOUT A POSSIBLE LAND SWAP.  THE OUTLINES OF A POSSIBLE AGREEMENT HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED.
