THE WINDOM SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL BEGIN ITS FREE SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM THIS WEEK.    THE DISTRICT IS OFFERING FREE LUNCHES FOR ANY CHILD FROM ONE TO 18-YEARS-OLD.  THE PROGRAM IS OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN; THERE ARE NOT FINANCIAL QUALIFICATIONS.  LUNCH WILL BE SERVED EACH WEEKDAY – STARTING WEDNESDAY – IN THE CAFETERIA AT WINFAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FROM 11:00 TO 1:00.   ADULTS ARE INVITED TO EACH LUNCH WITH THEIR CHILDREN; THE ADULT LUNCH PRICE IS $4.25.  THE LUNCH PROGRAM CONTINUES THROUGH AUGUST 13TH.   
  
THE WINDOM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETS AT 7:00 THIS EVENING AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   THE COMMISSION WILL REVIEW SEVERAL ITEMS RELATED TO A NEW TAX INCREMENT FINANCING DISTRICT FOR HOUSING REDEVELOPMENT.  COMMISSION MEMBERS WILL REVIEW A MODIFIED PROGRAM FOR DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT #1.  AN UPDATE WILL BE PROVIDED ON THE FINANCING PLAN FOR NEW “TIF” DISTRICT 1-22.  A RESOLUTION MAY BE PRESENTED FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE FINANCING PLAN.  THERE WILL ALSO BE AN UPDATE ON THE GUARDIAN INN PROJECT. 
 
THE LAKEFIELD SUMMERFEST IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.   THE LAKEFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY IS HOLDING A STORY HOUR THIS MORNING.  A GLOW PAINT CLASS WILL BE HELD AT THE LIBRARY THIS AFTERNOON FOR STUDENTS IN THE 5TH THROUGH 8TH GRADES.  A PINOCHLE CARD TOURNAMENT WILL BE HELD AT 6:00 THIS EVENING AT THE MULTI-PURPOSE CENTER.  ON WEDNESDAY, THE LEGION AUXILIARY SALAD LUNCHEON WILL BE HELD AT 11:00AM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION.   SUMMERFEST ACTIVITIES CONTINUE THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY.   
 
THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MET LAST WEEK.   A MOTION WAS APPROVED TO APPOINT DONNA TORKELSON AS THE COUNTY AUDITOR-TREASURER.  SHE WILL BEGIN HER TRAINING THIS MONTH, AND WILL SERVE IN THE OFFICE THROUGH THE END OF 2022.  THE BOARD APPROVED AN APPLICATION FOR A RESIDENTIAL HOUSING TAX ABATEMENT FOR A NEW HOUSE IN WINDOM.  TWO APPLICATIONS WERE REVIEWED AND APPROVED FOR PROJECTS THAT FALL UNDER THE WETLAND CONSERVATION ACT.  A BID WAS ACCEPTED TO INSTALL NEW LIGHTING AT 10 COUNTY ROAD INTERSECTIONS.   
 
THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING AT 9:00 WEDNESDAY MORNING AT THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT BUILDING IN SLAYTON.    BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE WORKING WITH CONSULTANT GARY WEIERS FROM D-D-A HUMAN RESOURCES.   THE COMPANY HAS BEEN WORKING WITH MURRAY COUNTY TO SCREEN CANDIDATES FOR COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR.   WEIERS AND THE BOARD WILL REVIEW THE CANDIDATES, AND CHOOSE SEVERAL FINALISTS WHO WILL BE INVITED TO INTERVIEW FOR THE POSITION.  MURRAY COUNTY HAS DECIDED TO REPLACE ITS COUNTY COORDINATOR WITH AN ADMINISTRATOR.
