THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING AT 9:00 THIS MORNING AT THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT BUILDING IN SLAYTON.    BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE WORKING WITH CONSULTANT GARY WEIERS FROM D-D-A HUMAN RESOURCES.   THE COMPANY HAS BEEN WORKING WITH MURRAY COUNTY TO SCREEN CANDIDATES FOR COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR.   WEIERS AND THE BOARD WILL REVIEW THE CANDIDATES, AND CHOOSE SEVERAL FINALISTS WHO WILL BE INVITED TO INTERVIEW FOR THE POSITION.  MURRAY COUNTY HAS DECIDED TO REPLACE ITS COUNTY COORDINATOR WITH AN ADMINISTRATOR.   
 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK.    THE BOARD APPROVED THE HIRING OF BRYAN JOYCE AS THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL.  THERE WERE 14 APPLICANTS AND 5 CANDIDATES WERE INTERVIEWED.  A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD, AND THE BOARD VOTED TO APPROVE AN APPLICATION FOR A RESIDENTIAL HOUSING TAX ABATEMENT.   THE BOARD HEARD THE ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE Q-COMP PROGRAM.  ONE CHANGE WILL INVOLVE THE CREATION OF A NEW PEER ENGAGEMENT COACH.  NEW BIDS WERE ACCEPTED FOR CEILING AND ACOUSTICAL TILE FOR THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT. 
   
THE 2019 FULDA WOOD DUCK FESTIVAL IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.   THE THEME IS “GROW WITH US.”  TODAY, A SWIM MEET WILL BE HELD AT THE POOL AT 4:00PM.  A FAMILY SWIM WILL BE HELD AT THE POOL FROM 5:30 UNTIL 7:00PM.  THE WOOD DUCK FESTIVAL WILL CONTINUE WITH MORE EVENTS ON THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.  
 
THE WINDOM CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETS AT 5:30 THIS AFTERNOON AT THE WINDOM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.    A NEW SECRETARY WILL BE ELECTED.   THE COMMISSION WILL DISCUSS POSSIBLE LOCATIONS FOR A NEW DOG PARK IN WINDOM.  THERE WILL BE A REPORT FROM INTERIM REC DIRECTOR TIM HOGAN, INCLUDING REPORTS ON HORSE SHOWS, THE SWIMMING POOL AND SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAMS.   THE PARK SUPERINTENDENT WILL REPORT ON REPAIRS TO PARK FACILITIES.  THE COMMISSION WILL REVIEW THE CITY’S “ADOPT-A-PARK” PROMOTION.   
 
THE LAKEFIELD SUMMERFEST IS BEING HELD THIS WEEK.   THE LEGION AUXILIARY IS HOSTING A SALAD LUNCHEON TODAY.  THE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS OFFERING A CREATIVE CORNER THIS AFTERNOON WITH CRAFT PROJECTS FOR CHILDREN.  THE LITTLE MISS AND MISTER LAKEFIELD PAGEANT WILL BE HELD AT 6:00 TONIGHT AT THE NORTH CITY PARK.  THERE WILL BE FREE GAMES AT THE PARK AFTER THE PAGEANT.  FOOD WILL BE SERVED AT THE PARK STARTING AT 6:00PM.  THE LADIES OF LAKEFIELD WILL SPONSOR A LIP SYNC BATTLE AT NORTH CITY PARK AT 7:30 TONIGHT.       
                                                  
THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY WILL HOLD A BOARD MEETING AT 9:00 THURSDAY MORNING IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER IN WINDOM.  A NUTRITION EDUCATOR WILL HAVE A PRESENTATION ON THE “WIC” BREAST-FEEDING PROGRAM.  THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS THE USE OF A MANAGED-CARE ORGANIZATION TO WORK WITH RECIPIENTS OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND MINNESOTA CARE.  OTHER REPORTS MAY BE PROVIDED BY THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT.
