SPRINGFIELD IS HOLDING THE “KID’S PARTY IN THE PARK” THIS WEEK.     THE PARTY WILL TAKE PLACE IN RIVERSIDE PARK THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.   WRISTBANDS MAY BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE THROUGH WEDNESDAY.  THE ADVANCE SALE PRICE IS $25; THE PRICE IS $35 AT THE GATE THE DAY OF THE EVENT.  ADVANCE WRISTBANDS MAY BE PURCHASED AT ALL SPRINGFIELD FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, THE SPRINGFIELD MARKET, RUNNING’s AND EXPRESSWAY.  YOU MUST BE 18 OR OLDER TO PURCHASE WRISTBANDS.  MORE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE ON FACEBOOK.   
 
THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL MEETS AT 6:30 THIS EVENING AT THE CITY HALL BUILDING.   THE 2018 CITY AUDIT REPORT WILL BE PRESENTED.   THE FIRST READING WILL BE HELD OF AN ORDINANCE, AMENDING CITY REGULATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL BARNYARD CHICKENS.  THE CITY ATTORNEY WILL HAVE AN UPDATE ON THE GREENHOUSE PROPERTY.  A DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD ON SEASONAL MAINTENANCE FOR THE LAKE AND LAKE TRAIL.  THE COUNCIL WILL RECEIVE A REPORT ON THE 2019 CITY-WIDE CLEANUP PROGRAM.   
 
ST. JAMES IS HOLDING ITS 44TH ANNUAL RAILROAD DAYS CELEBRATION THIS WEEK.    TODAY, THERE WILL BE A ‘PUPPY PLAY DATE’ AND DOG SHOW AT THE UNLEASHED DOG PARK FROM 5:30 UNTIL 7:00PM.  PEOPLE ARE INVITED TO BRING THEIR DOGS TO THE PARK FOR AN EVENING OF FUN EVENTS.  MORE ACTIVITIES WILL BE TAKING PLACE FROM THURSDAY THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY.   
 
THE HERON LAKE-OKABENA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS OFFERING A SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM.     MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED TO ALL ENROLLED CHILDREN AT NO CHARGE.  MEALS ARE OFFERED TO ALL CHILDREN; THERE ARE NO FINANCIAL QUALIFICATIONS.  MEALS WILL BE SERVED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS AT THE HERON LAKE-OKABENA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HERON LAKE FROM 11:00 TO 12:30 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, STARTING THIS WEEK AND CONTINUING THROUGH AUGUST 15TH.  FOR MORE INFORMATION, CALL TRACY IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE.  
 
THE JEFFERS CITY COUNCIL HELD A REGULAR MEETING LAST WEEK.  LETTERS WILL BE SENT TO ALL RESIDENTS WHO HAVE TALL WEEDS ON THEIR PROPERTY.  THE CITY ATTORNEY WILL BE CONTACTED WITH CONCERNS ABOUT SAFETY ISSUES FOR A BUILDING IN THE CITY.  A RESIDENT WITH AN EXPIRED BUILDING PERMIT WILL BE FINED AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THREE TIMES THE PERMIT FEE FOR DOING WORK WITHOUT A VALID PERMIT.  A LIST OF TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTIES WAS REVIEWED.  THE COUNCIL VOTED TO MAKE THE PARCELS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC AUCTION.   
 
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION HAS INTRODUCED NEW MARKINGS ON TRAFFIC SIGNALS TO HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS.   THE GOAL IS TO REDUCE COLLISIONS AT INTERSECTIONS.  TO MAKE TRAFFIC SIGNALS STAND OUT, FLUORSECENT YELLOW TAPE HAS BEEN APPLIED TO TRAFFIC SIGNALS.  THE BRIGHT YELLOW TAPE HAS BEEN INSTALLED AROUND THE RECTANGULAR PLATE THAT HOLDS THE SIGNAL LIGHTS.  THE TAPE IMPROVES VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AND DURING BAD WEATHER.  THIS METHOD HAS BEEN USED IN OTHER STATES.
