THE WESTBROOK CITY COUNCIL MET THIS WEEK.  THE COUNCIL REVIEWED A PROPOSED 2020 CITY BUDGET AND A PRELIMINARY 2020 PROPERTY TAX LEVY.  THEY VOTED TO APPROVE THE BUDGET AND ADOPT THE PRELIMINARY LEVY.  THE LEVY SHOWS AN INCREASE OF 5.62%.  THAT AMOUNT MAY BE REDUCED, BUT IT CANNOT BE INCREASED BEFORE THE FINAL LEVY IS CERTIFIED IN DECEMBER.  IN OTHER BUSINESS, THE COUNCIL APPROVED AN ORDINANCE, REVISING SECTIONS OF THE CITY CODE DEALING WITH REGULATIONS FOR ANIMALS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS.  ONE BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION WAS APPROVED. 
 
‘HOT IRON DAYS’ IS BEING HELD IN LAMBERTON TODAY AND TOMORROW.      TODAY, MAKE YOUR OWN IRON MOLD AT THE SAND SHOP FROM NOON TO 7:00PM.  A BARBEQUE MEAL WILL BE SERVED FROM 5:00 TO 7:00PM.  THERE WILL BE A FREE DEMONSTRATION OF THE GAME ‘KUBB’ IN THE CITY PARK FROM 7:00 TO 9:00PM.  GLOW STICKS, POPCORN AND BEVERAGES WILL BE FOR SALE.  AT 9:30 TONIGHT, THE ‘SPARKS UNDER THE STARS’ IRON POUR WILL BE HELD BEHIND THE BLACKSMITH SHOP.  HOT IRON DAYS IS SPONSORED BY THE LAMBERTON AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY.   
 
A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD THIS WEEK.   THE COUNCIL REVIEWED A REPORT ON THE WASTEWATER PROJECT.  THE COST IS ROUGHLY $11.7-MILLION, TO BE PAID THROUGH GRANTS AND A LOW-INTEREST LOAN.  MILK SPECIALITIES WILL PROVIDE SOME FUNDING UNDER A ‘SIGNIFICANT INDUSTRIAL USER’ AGREEMENT.  SEWER RATES WILL LIKELY SEE AN INCREASE OF ABOUT 2% A YEAR.  APEX CLEAN ENERGY PRESENTED A REQUEST FOR A UTILITY EASEMENT; NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.   THE COUNCIL DISCUSSED A PROPOSED 2020 CITY BUDGET AND A PRELIMINARY PROPERTY TAX LEVY. 
 
A FUND-RAISING EVENT IS BEING HELD IN ODIN THIS WEEKEND.    THE ODIN COMMUNITY CLUB IS HOLDING A STREET DANCE AND BLOCK PARTY ON SATURDAY TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE PLAYGROUND FUND.  EVENTS BEGIN AT 2:00PM WITH THE OPENING OF THE BEER GARDEN AND A FUN RUN.  THERE WILL BE KID’S GAMES AT 3:00PM; A BEAN-BAG TOURNAMENT AT 4:00PM; A MEAL WITH PORK LOIN SANDWICHES WILL BE SERVED FROM 5:00 TO 7:00PM; THE STREET DANCE WILL BEGIN AT 8:00PM WITH MUSIC BY THE BAND ‘CANYON COWBOYS’  ALL PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE ODIN COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND FUND.      
   
THE PRAIRIE ECOLOGY BUS CENTER WILL HOST THE 17TH ANNUAL “PRAIRIE WINDS KITE FLY” FROM 10:00 TO 4:00 THIS SATURDAY AT THE JACKSON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.   THIS IS A FREE FUN FAMILY EVENT, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  PROFESSIONAL KITE FLYERS FROM FIVE STATES WILL BE DISPLAYING THEIR GIANT SHOW KITES.  PEOPLE MAY BRING THEIR OWN KITES, AND KITES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE.  THERE WILL BE KITE-MAKING CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND A KID’S CANDY DROP.  CONCESSIONS WILL BE PROVIDED BY LOCAL GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS.  THERE WILL BE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT.
