THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT 8:30 THIS MORNING AT THE GOVERNMENT CENTER IN SLAYTON.  THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON SOLID WASTE ASSESSMENTS.  THE BOARD WILL HEAR A REPORT FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR.  A REQUEST WILL BE PRESENTED FOR AN EXTENSION OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT.  A NEW MEMBER WILL BE APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.  AMENDMENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE COUNTY LAND-USE ORDINANCE AND THE ZONING MAP.  A DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD ON SETTING 2020 DITCH LEVIES.  
 
THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD MET LAST WEEK.    THE BOARD APPROVED THE 2020 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CONTRACT WITH THE BROWN-NICOLLET COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICE.  APPROVAL WAS GIVEN TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR WORK ON THE NEW COUNTY WEBSITE AND NEW CHECK-PRINTING SOFTWARE.  THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF A FULL-TIME JAILER-DISPATCHER.  THE BOARD APPROVED A RESIDENTIAL HOUSING TAX ABATEMENT FOR A NEW HOUSE AT STRING LAKE.  THE BOARD SPENT A PORTION OF THE MEETING IN CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS STRATEGY FOR LABOR CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS. 
 
AN INDUCTION CEREMONY WAS HELD MONDAY AT WINDOM AREA HIGH SCHOOL FOR NEW MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY.    RETURNING MEMBERS LED THE PROGRAM AND REVIEWED THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY.   THE NEW MEMBERS ARE BRIGITTE BEALL, CONNER REDMAN, GRACIE BUCHER, DELANEY SMITH, SAM DOORENBOS, HANNAH SWARD, CHANCE ELNESS, ALLIE WARD, RYAN FAUGLID, JADYN WORMSTADT AND LILY MELLSTROM.  THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY RECOGNIZES STUDENTS WHO MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP, COMMUNITY SERVICE, LEADERSHIP AND CHARACTER.   
 
THE JEFFERS CITY COUNCIL HELD A REGULAR MEETING LAST WEEK.   THE COUNCIL DISCUSSED A PROPERTY THAT HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A SEWER LINE THAT WAS PLUGGED WITH TREE ROOTS.  THE COUNCIL AGREED TO PAY HALF OF THE COST TO HAVE THE LINE REPAIRED.  A DISCUSSION WAS HELD ON THE SEARCH TO HIRE A NEW ZONING ADMINISTRATOR.  HALLOWEEN HOURS WERE SET.  TRICK-OR-TREATING WILL BE FROM 5:00 UNTIL 8:00PM, WITH A CURFEW STARTING AT 11:00PM.  THE COUNCIL REVIEWED AN APPLICATION FOR A BUILDING PERMIT.  THE APPLICATION WAS APPROVED, PENDING REVIEW BY A ZONING ADMINISTRATOR. 
 
THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY MORNING.  THE MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 8:00 IN THE BOARD ROOM AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN WINDOM.  BOARD MEMBERS WILL CONSIDER A REVISED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POSITION OF DEPUTY AUDITOR-TREASURER.  IF THE JOB DESCRIPTION IS APPROVED, THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER WHETHER TO PLACE ALL EXISTING EMPLOYEES IN THE OFFER UNDER THE NEW JOB DESCRIPTION.  THE BOARD MAY ALSO POST AN OPENING TO FILL A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE AND ADVERTISE FOR CANDIDATES.
