THE WINDOM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY HOLDS A BOARD MEETING AT NOON TODAY AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.   THE BOARD WILL HEAR A PRESENTATION FROM “BIXLINK NORTH” ON THE SERVICES IT OFFERS FOR BUSINESS SUCCESSION PLANNING.   THERE WILL BE UPDATES ON THE CEMSTONE REDEVELOPMENT AREA.  THE BOARD WILL HEAR AN UPDATE ON THE SEALED-BID AUCTION FOR LOTS AT THE SITE.  A CLOSED SESSION WILL BE HELD TO DISCUSS LAND NEGOTIATIONS.  THE BOARD WILL DISCUSS AN APPLICATION FOR A STATE REDEVELOPMENT GRANT.  THE E-D-A BOARD WILL ALSO HOLD LAND NEGOTIATIONS FOR A PARCEL OF PROPERTY NEXT TO THE E-D-A ‘SPEC’ BUILDING. 
 
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING AT 4:30 THIS AFTERNOON IN THE 1ST-FLOOD BOARD ROOM AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN JACKSON.  BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE MEETING WITH STATE SENATOR JULIE ROSEN TO DISCUSS THE UPCOMING SESSION OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE.  THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD WILL BE PRESENTING ITS LEGISLATIVE PLATFORM FOR 2020.  THE PLATFORM LISTS ISSUES AND AREAS WHERE THE BOARD WOULD LIKE TO SEE ACTION TAKEN DURING THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION. 
 
THE PRAIRIE ARTS CONTINUUM IS HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR A PRODUCTION OF THE MUSICAL COMEDY, “Shrek-The Musical.”   AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE ‘BARC’ LIBRARY IN WINDOM TODAY AND TOMORROW FROM 6:30 TO 8:30 EACH NIGHT.  THIS IS OPEN TO ALL ADULTS, AND STUDENTS WHO ARE AT LEAST 10-YEARS-OLD.  THE SHOW IS BASED ON THE SERIES OF ANIMATED MOVIES ABOUT THE OGRE, SHREK.  CHARACTERS INCLUDE SHREK, DONKEY, PRINCESS FIONA, THE KING AND QUEEN, AND LORD FARQUAARD.  THE PRODUCTION IS BEING DIRECTED BY LORI GROTE OF JACKSON.  PUBLIC PERFORMANCES WILL TAKE PLACE FROM MARCH 26TH THROUGH THE 29TH.   
 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HOLDS A REGULAR MEETING AT 6:30 THIS EVENING AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS WILL BE HELD.  OTHER ORGANIZATIONAL BUSINESS WILL BE HANDLED.   TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE HELD ON APPLICATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL HOUSING TAX ABATEMENTS FROM DUSTIN THOM AND ORVILLE WOJAHN.  THE BOARD WILL VOTE ON WHETHER TO APPROVE THE ABATEMENTS.  THE BOARD WILL APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS FOR WORK ON THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT.   THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD WILL REVIEW A PROPOSED SCHOOL CALENDAR FOR THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR.  THE CALENDAR PROPOSES A LATER START TO THE SCHOOL YEAR. 
 
A MT LAKE RESIDENT HAS WON $1-MILLION FROM THE STATE LOTTERY.     ON DECEMBER 18TH, JOHN ENGSTROM OF MT LAKE PURCHASED A ‘POWERBALL’ TICKET AT A CONVENIENCE STORE IN MANKATO.  ENGSTROM FORGOT ABOUT THE TICKET UNTIL CHRISTMAS EVE, WHEN HE DISCOVERED THE TICKET IN HIS COAT POCKET WHILE DOING LAUNDRY.  HE CHECKED THE NUMBERS AND FOUND THAT THE TICKET HAD MATCHED THE FIRST FIVE NUMBERS, GIVING ENGSTROM A $1-MILLION PRIZE.   THERE ARE NINE DIFFERENT WAYS TO WIN ON POWERBALL, DEPENDING ON HOW MANY NUMBERS ARE MATCHED.  TO WIN THE GRAND PRIZE, A TICKET MUST MATCH THE FIRST FIVE NUMBERS AND THE ‘POWERBALL’ NUMBER. 
A SUPER-REGIONAL JUNIOR-HIGH KNOWLEDGE BOWL MEET WAS HELD THURSDAY AT SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY IN MARSHALL.  THERE WERE 42 TEAMS FROM 28 SCHOOL DISTRICTS.  1ST PLACE WENT TO A TEAM FROM GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE.  MONTEVIDEO WAS 2ND, WITH JACKSON COUNTY CENTRAL 3RD AND LAKEVIEW 4TH.  TEAMS FROM CEDAR MOUNTAIN AND WESTBROOK-WALNUT GROVE TIED FOR 5TH PLACE.  A TEAM FROM THE MT LAKE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL TIED FOR 7TH PLACE.  OTHER TEAMS IN THE MEET WERE FROM FULDA, MT LAKE PUBLIC SCHOOL AND WINDOM.    THIS IS THE FINAL MEET OF THE SEASON FOR JUNIOR-HIGH KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS.
