THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY WILL HOLD A BOARD MEETING AT 9:00 THIS MORNING IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER IN WINDOM.    THE BOARD WILL HEAR A REPORT FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTHWESTERN MENTAL HEALTH CENTER.  THEY WILL REVIEW A PROPOSAL DEALING WITH A NEW CONTRACT FOR CUSTODIAL SERVICES.  THE BOARD MAY APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF TWO NEW VANS TO REPLACE OLDER VEHICLES.  THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER APPROVING A CHANGE OF STATUS FOR AN EMPLOYEE WHO HAS COMPLETED THEIR PROBATIONARY PERIOD.   
 
THE WINDOM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY HELD A COMMISSION MEETING THIS WEEK.    NEW MEMBER LINDA SANDBERG TOOK THE OATH OF OFFICE.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS WAS HELD WITH RICK CLERC ELECTED AS PRESIDENT, SANDBERG AS VICE-PRESIDENT, AND BETSY HERDING AS SECRETARY-TREASURER.  UPDATES WERE HEARD ON SEVERAL PROJECTS.  WINDOM HAS APPLIED FOR A STATE REDEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR THE CEMSTONE PROJECT.  MORE APPLICATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR HOUSING REHAB PROJECTS FOR THE SMALL CITIES DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON THE EAST HILL.  THERE WAS A REPORT ON THE RECENT COMMUNITY HOUSING FORUM.  THE E-D-A ANNUAL REPORT WAS REVIEWED. 
 
THE WINDOM SCHOOL BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK.    THERE WAS A PRESENTATION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW LOGO FOR SCHOOL ATHLETIC TEAMS AND ACTIVITIES.  THE LOGO WILL BE USED ON FUTURE UNIFORMS, T-SHIRTS AND MERCHANDISE.  A BID WAS ACCEPTED FOR A WINDOW REPLACEMENT PROJECT AT THE HIGHLAND SCHOOL BUILDING.  THE BOARD APPROVED A BID FOR LANDSCAPING SERVICES AT THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUILDING.   THE BOARD APPROVED SEVERAL CHANGE ORDERS FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  A RETIREMENT NOTICE WAS RECEIVED FROM ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT KITTY HANSEN.  HANSEN HAS WORKED FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR 46 YEARS.   
 
MORE AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES ARE BEING HELD IN THE AREA.    A TWO-DAY RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE IS BEING HELD TODAY AND TOMORROW AT OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN JACKSON.  TODAY’S HOURS ARE FROM 1:00 UNTIL 6:00PM.  ON FRIDAY, THE BLOOD DRIVE WILL CONTINUE FROM 8:00AM UNTIL 1:00PM.  ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED.  DONORS SHOULD WEIGH AT LEAST 110 POUNDS AND BE IN GOOD GENERAL HEALTH.   YOUR MUST BE AT LEAST 17-YEARS-OLD, OR 16 WITH PARENTAL PERMISSION.   YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW A BLOOD DONOR’S CARD, A DRIVERS’ LICENSE, OR ANOTHER FORM OF IDENTIFICATION AT CHECK-IN.   
 
WINDOM AREA HIGH SCHOOL IS HOLDING ITS WINTERFEST CELEBRATION THIS WEEK.  FRIDAY’S DRESS-UP THEME IS EAGLE SPIRIT DAY.  THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES ON FRIDAY.  CORONATION WILL BE HELD IN THE MORNING.  STUDENTS WILL BE CHOOSING FROM A NUMBER OF ACTIVITIES IN THE MORNING.  IN THE AFTERNOON, THERE WILL BE A BASKETBALL GAME BETWEEN STUDENTS AND STAFF MEMBERS.  MIDDLE-SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL HAVE THEIR OWN ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS.  THE WINDOM GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM HAS A HOME GAME FRIDAY NIGHT.  AFTER THE GAME, THERE WILL BE A SEMI-FORMAL DANCE IN THE OLD GYM.  ADMISSION IS $3 OR $1 WITH A WINTERFEST WRISTBAND.
