THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD HELD A REGULAR MEETING LAST MONTH.   THE BOARD APPROVED THE EQUIPMENT OF EQUIPMENT FOR A NEW SQUAD CAR FOR THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, INCLUDING RADAR AND RADIO EQUIPMENT.  THE BOARD APPROVED AN AGREEMENT FOR THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO PROVIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES TO THE CITY OF LAKE WILSON.  THE BOARD APPROVED A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR A WATER CONTROL STRUCTURE IN SECTION 6 OF SHETEK TOWNSHIP.  THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD RECOGNIZED A NUMBER OF LONG-TIME EMPLOYEES.  THE BOARD ALSO HELD A WORK-SESSION WITH A HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT. 
 
WINDOM AREA MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL IS HOLDING ITS “WINTERFEST” CELEBRATION THIS WEEK.   THERE WILL BE DAILY DRESS-UP THEMES FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE-SCHOOL STUDENTS.  A PEP FEST WAS HELD MONDAY AND WINTERFEST CANDIDATES WERE ANNOUNCED.  WRISTBANDS ARE BEING SOLD DURING THE WEEK FOR $3.  STUDENTS WITH A WRISTBAND RECEIVE A DISCOUNT FOR THE DANCE.  SINGING VALENTINES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A FEE ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.  ON FRIDAY, CORONATION WILL BE HELD.  THERE WILL BE ACTIVITIES IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON.   A SEMI-FORMAL DANCE WILL BE HELD IN THE OLD GYM FRIDAY NIGHT AFTER THE GIRLS BASKETBALL GAME.   
 
THE WINDOM COMMUNITY CENTER COMMISSION MEETS AT 5:30 THIS AFTERNOON AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER MEETING ROOM.     NEW AND RETURNING MEMBERS WILL TAKE THE OATH OF OFFICE.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS WILL BE HELD.  THE DIRECTOR WILL HAVE UPDATES ON A NUMBER OF TOPICS, INCLUDING SOBER CAB SERVICE, THE CENTER WEBSITE, EQUIPMENT NEEDS, AND THE NAMES FOR THE DIFFERENT ROOMS IN THE BUILDING.  THE COMMISSION WILL ALSO HEAR AN UPDATE ON PLANS FOR RIVERFEST.  A LIST OF SCHEDULED EVENTS WILL BE PRESENTED FOR REVIEW.  THE MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT WILL BE PRESENTED.     
 
THE WINDOM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETS AT 7:00 TONIGHT AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.  NEW AND RETURNING COMMISSION MEMBERS DRAKE BORSGARD AND LORRI COLE WILL BE WELCOMED AND TAKE THE OATH OF OFFICE.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS WILL BE HELD.  A DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD ON A PROPOSED SHORELAND ORDINANCE.  THE WINDOM PLANNING COMMISSION WILL ALSO CONSIDER TOPICS THAT WILL BE REVIEWED DURING THE UPCOMING YEAR.  THERE WILL BE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE STAFF AND COMMISSION MEMBERS.   
 
THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MET LAST WEEK.  THE BOARD APPROVED A 2020 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT GRANT.  BEKAH SAFFERT WAS APPOINTED AS THE 2020 CAMP HOST AT TALCOT PARK.  THE BOARD APPROVED THE PURCHASE OF A NEW PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.  A LIQUOR LICENSE WAS RENEWED FOR THE MT LAKE GOLF COURSE.  THE BOARD AGREED TO PROVIDE UP TO $1,000 IN EXPENSES TO ASSIST WITH THE 2020 FEDERAL CENSUS.  SEVERAL PERSONNEL MATTERS WERE HANDLED.  AN OPENING WAS POSTED FOR AN I-T TECHNICIAN.  THE BOARD REVIEWED A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES TO A MOTOR VEHICLE.  THEY VOTED TO DENY THE REQUEST.
