THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT 8:30 THIS MORNING AT THE GOVERNMENT CENTER IN SLAYTON.  THE GOVERNMENT CENTER IS CURRENTLY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.  THE BOARD WILL HEAR THE DITCH INSPECTION REPORT.  AN OLDER VEHICLE WILL BE DECLARED AS SURPLUS.   THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON SOME COMPUTER ISSUES.  THE BOARD WILL ACCEPT A RESIGNATION.  AN UPDATE ON THE CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK WILL BE PRESENTED.  THE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR WILL DISCUSS BID OPENINGS FOR STATE AND FEDERAL HIGHWAY OVERLAY PROJECTS.  THE BOARD WILL HOLD A WORK SESSION ON SOME PERSONNEL MATTERS.  
 
THERE WILL BE A CHANGE IN THIS MONTH’S COMMUNITY DINNER IN WINDOM. THE “DINNER TABLE” IS A FREE MONTHLY COMMUNITY DINNER THAT IS HELD IN WINDOM ON THE 4TH TUESDAY OF THE MONTH.  NORMALLY, A SIT-DOWN DINNER IS SERVED AT THE 1ST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN WINDOM.  DUE TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS, A MEAL WILL NOT BE SERVED INSIDE THE CHURCH TODAY.  BUT, THE ORGANIZERS OF THE DINNER TABLE ARE OFFERING AN ALTERNATIVE.  PEOPLE MAY DRIVE THROUGH THE ALLEY BY THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND PICK UP A FREE GIFT CARD.  THE GIFT CARD MAY BE USED TO RECEIVE A FREE BOXED MEAL FROM THE DRIVE-THROUGH WINDOW AT HARDEE’S IN WINDOM.  GIFT CARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING AT 5:30 THIS AFTERNOON.   
 
A CASE OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED IN JACKSON COUNTY.    THE CASE INVOLVES A PERSON IN THEIR 40’s WHO HAS A HISTORY OF RECENT TRAVEL.  THE PATIENT DEVELOPED MILD SYMPTOMS AND SOUGHT HEALTH CARE.  SAMPLES WERE COLLECTED AND SENT FOR TESTING WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A POSITIVE CASE.  THE DES MOINES VALLEY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY HAS STATED THAT THE PATIENT IS CURRENTLY ISOLATED AT HOME.  LOCAL OFFICIALS ARE WORKING TO EVALUATE WHERE THE PATIENT HAS TRAVELED RECENTLY AND DETERMINE WHO THEY MIGHT HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH.  ANYONE WHO HAD RECENT CONTACT WITH THE PATIENT WILL BE ASKED TO QUARANTINE THEMSELVES FOR 14 DAYS.   
  
THE WINDOM SCHOOL DISTRICT IS OFFERING MEALS FOR CHILDREN FROM 1 TO 18-YEARS-OLD WHO LIVE IN THE WINDOM SCHOOL DISTRICT.    FAMILIES MUST SIGN UP ON THE WINDOM SCHOOL WEBSITE BY PROVIDING THEIR NAME, E-MAIL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER AND THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN NEEDING A MEAL.   MEALS MAY BE PICKED UP AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS BETWEEN 11:30 AND 12:30 WITH A LUNCH AND ONE SNACK.  MEALS MAY BE DELIVERED FOR REASONS OF DISABILITY OR ILLNESS.   MEALS MUST BE REQUESTED BY 10:30AM FOR SAME-DAY DELIVERY.  THERE ARE MULTIPLE PICK-UP LOCATIONS IN WINDOM, WILDER AND BINGHAM LAKE.   
 
THE HY VEE GROCERY STORE IN WINDOM HAS ANNOUNCED MORE CHANGES DUE TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS OUTBREAK.  HY VEE IS RESERVING ONE HOUR OF SHOPPING TIME EACH DAY FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE AT A HIGHER RISK, INCLUDING PEOPLE OVER 60, PEOPLE WITH UNDERLYING HEALTH CONDITIONS, OR PREGNANT WOMEN.  THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SHOP FROM 7:00 TO 8:00AM SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.  REGULAR STORE HOURS ARE NOW FROM 8:00AM TO 8:00PM, ALLOWING EMPLOYEES TIME TO CLEAN AND SANITIZE THE STORE AND RESTOCK ITEMS.  ALL DINING AREAS ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.  THE KITCHEN WILL PREPARE MEALS FOR TAKE-OUT ONLY.
