WORK CONTINUES THIS WEEK ON THE 2020 WINDOM CITY STREET PROJECT.    ON THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK:  PAVING WILL BE DONE ON 14TH STREET.  SANITARY SEWER AND STORM SEWER WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE WEST HALF OF HIGHLAND ROAD.  GAS LINES WILL BE RELOCATED ON THE EAST HALF OF HIGHLAND ROAD.   WATER MAINS WILL BE INSTALLED ON DES MOINES DRIVE, STARTING AT THE INTERSECTION WITH HIGHLAND AND GOING NORTH.  WEEKLY UPDATES ARE BEING POSTED ON THE WINDOM CITY WEBSITE AND THE STREET DEPARTMENT FACEBOOK PAGE.  MORE WORK WILL BE TAKING PLACE AS THE SUMMER CONTINUES.  
 
THE WESTBROOK-WALNUT GROVE SCHOOL BOARD MET LAST WEEK.    A NUMBER OF PERSONNEL ITEMS WERE HANDLED.  FILING DATES WERE SET FOR CANDIDATES WISHING TO RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD IN THE FALL ELECTION.  FOUR SEATS ON THE BOARD WILL BE UP FOR ELECTION IN NOVEMBER.  THE BOARD APPROVED A CONTRACT WITH GREATER MINNESOTA FAMILY SERVICES TO PROVIDE A SOCIAL WORKER FOR THE WALNUT GROVE BUILDING.  A PRELIMINARY BUDGET WAS APPROVED FOR THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR.  THE BUDGET IS PROJECTING A SMALL DEFICIT.  THE BOARD APPROVED AN INSURANCE PLAN.  A REVISED SCHOOL CALENDAR WAS APPROVED. 
 
THE CITY OF MT LAKE HAS ADJUSTED SOME OF ITS COVID-19 POLICIES AND RESTRICTIONS.   THE MT LAKE PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS BEGUN OFFERING LIMITED IN-PERSON SERVICE.  THERE IS A LIMIT OF 10 PEOPLE ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING AT A TIME, WITH A SUGGESTED TIME LIMIT OF 20 MINUTES.   THE MT LAKE COMMUNITY CENTER IS TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR FUTURE EVENTS.  THE LARGE MEETING ROOM IS ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE 88 PEOPLE WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING.  THE LIMIT MAY BE DIFFERENT DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF EVENT BEING HELD.  AT THIS TIME, MT LAKE IS PLANNING TO HOLD A CITY-WIDE CLEANUP PROGRAM ON SATURDAY, JULY 18TH.   
 
A CATHOLIC CHURCH IN LAMBERTON WAS THE SITE OF A BURGLARY AND THEFT LAST WEEK.  THE LAMBERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A REPORT ON THURSDAY FOR A THEFT AT ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH.  SOMEONE ENTERED THE CHURCH; THE THIEVES STOLE THE TABERNACLE FROM THE ALTAR, AND ALSO TOOK SEVERAL SILVER AND COPPER SERVING GLASSES.  THERE WAS ADDITIONAL DAMAGE DONE TO THE CHURCH.   THE VALUE OF THE MISSING PROPERTY AND THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TOTALS MORE THAN $8-THOUSAND.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE INCIDENT IS ENCOURAGED TO CALL THE LAMBERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT OR REDWOOD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
