Local Sports Update – Fri, Aug 14

AMATEUR BASEBALL: 

 

Region 13-C:   A final playoff series is being held to determine seeding for State Tournament.   Best 2-games-out-of-3 

 

3rd Place Series:   Luverne Redbirds vs Milroy Irish.   Winner advances to State as the #3 seed out of the region.  Loser is eliminated. 

 

Fri, Aug 14: 

    Luverne Redbirds at Milroy Irish  –   Luverne leads series 1 game to none. 

 

Championship Series:   Hadley Buttermakers vs Fairmont Martins.  Both teams advance to state.  Winner of the series is the #1 seed from the Region.  Loser is the #2 seed. 

 

Sat, Aug 15: 

    Fairmont Martins at Hadley Buttermakers  –  Fairmont leads series 1 game to none. 

 

If a 3rd game is needed in either series, it will be played Sunday with the higher-seeded team hosting. 

 

 

Region 2-C:   Double-elmination format continues.  3 teams from the Region will advance to the State Class C Tournament, starting August 22nd.   

 

Thurs, Aug 13 (losers bracket) 

    Stark Longhorns 13, Fairfax Cardinals 2   (Fairfax is eliminated) 

    Courtland Cubs 3, Essig Bluejays 2   (Essig is eliminated 

 

Fri, Aug 14  

    (winners bracket) 

      Lamberton Long Sox at New Ulm Brewers.   Both teams advance to State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament. 

             Winner is the #1 seed out of the region; loser is the #2 seed.

         Hanska Lakers vs. Courtland Cubs 

         Springfield Tigers vs Stark Longhorns 

 

Sat, Aug 15    (losers bracket) 

       Hanska/Courtland winner meets the Springfield/Stark winner, with the winner of that game going to State as the #3 seed out of the region.
