THE SALVATION ARMY AND K-D-O-M RADIO HAVE BEGUN THE 2021 ‘RED KETTLE’ BELL DRIVE.  THE GOAL IS TO RAISE $5,000.  DONATIONS ARE ACCEPTED DAILY.  RED KETTLES MAY BE FOUND IN WINDOM AT HY VEE, SCHWALBACH ACE HARDWARE, KRICK INSURANCE AGENCY, RUNNING’S AND AT THE K-D-O-M STUDIOS.  IN MT LAKE, A RED KETTLE MAY BE FOUND AT MAYNARD’S FOOD CENTER.  LOOSE CHANGE, DOLLARS AND CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED – ANY CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO THE SALVATION ARMY.  DONATIONS MAY ALSO BE MAILED TO K-D-O-M RADIO AT 1450 NORTH HIGHWAY 60/71 IN WINDOM.  TO MAKE A DONATION WITH A CREDIT CARD, CALL K-D-O-M AT 831-3908. 
 
THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MET LAST WEEK.   THE BOARD HEARD A PRESENTATION FROM ASHLEY JOHNSON ON MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS IN THE COUNTY.  JOHNSON ENCOURAGED THE BOARD TO FORM A TASK FORCE TO CONSIDER THE BEST WAY TO PROVIDE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.  THE COUNTY SHERIFF WAS AUTHORIZED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE “SAFE AND SECURE” COURTHOUSE GRANT PROGRAM.  THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED APPROVAL TO PURCHASE 10 RIFLES AND 10 SIGHTS FROM A NEW VENDOR.  THE 2020 STATE AUDIT REPORT WAS REVIEWED. 
 
THE DINNER TABLE WILL SERVE A MEAL IN WINDOM TODAY.  THE DINNER TABLE IS A COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM, SPONSORED BY AREA CHURCHES AND ORGANIZATIONS.  A MEAL WILL BE SERVED FROM 5:30 TO 6:30 THIS EVENING AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 336-11TH STREET IN WINDOM.  PEOPLE ARE INVITED TO ENJOY A FREE MEAL OF CHICKEN AND RICE WITH A SURPRISE THANKSGIVING DESSERT.  PEOPLE MAY EAT IN PERSON AT THE CHURCH OR PICK UP A DRIVE-THROUGH MEAL.  FOR THE DRIVE-THROUGH MEAL, GO DOWN THE ALLEY BEHIND THE CHURCH AND SOMEONE WILL BRING A MEAL TO YOUR CAR. 
 
THE HERON LAKE-OKABENA SCHOOL BOARD MET LAST WEEK.  THE BOARD APPROVED A TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT WITH THE ROUND LAKE-BREWSTER SCHOOL DISTRICT. A REPORT WAS PRESENTED AND APPROVED FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT AND INTEGRATION PROGRAM.  THE BOARD REVIEWED THE SUMMARY REPORT FOR THE WORLD’S BEST WORK-FORCE PROGRAM.  JASON FISHER WAS HIRED AS A GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH.  AN OLDER VEHICLE WAS DECLARED AS SURPLUS AND DESIGNATED FOR SALE OR DISPOSAL.  THE BOARD APPROVED A FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE FOR A STAFF MEMBER.  IT WAS NOTED THAT THE DISTRICT HAS A NEW SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER THROUGH THE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
