His parents Michael and Julie Stahl of Mountain Lake are feeling truly blessed. Baby Justin’s original due date was on the 18th. Julie laughingly stated that she wasn’t aware that having the first baby of the year was such a big deal, but she and Michael are thrilled at the surprise of it all. Baby Justin will be greeted at home by his five older siblings. Julie stated that Justin’s siblings are beyond excited to get him home to love on him.

On a personal note…. I had the privilege of seeing Baby Justin and I am here to tell you he is absolutely adorable and perfect! Congratulations to the Stahl family!!!

It’s no secret that Windom is growing and when a City grows there are higher demands for housing. According to Drew Hage, Development Director for Windom as of November 30, 2021 there was a 0% in rental vacancy rates. The survey included Lakeside Apartments, which opened in 2020 with 45 units and Guardian Inn which also opened in 2020 with 38 units. Hage went onto say that there is a demand for approximately 130 new housing units in Windom from 2014 to the end of the decade. To clarify- A housing unit is defined as a residence such as a house, apartment or mobile home. Of that demand, Hage went on to say about 30-35 units will be for owner-occupied housing and 95-100 units will be for rental and senior housing. Since the Housing study in 2014 more than 798 new jobs have been created in Windom. A healthy rental market is expected to have a vacancy rate of about 5% to allow for sufficient consumer choice and unit turnover. Hage stated that with a shortage of living units persons who would normally form their own rental households instead room with other persons in a housing unit, live with their parents or live in housing outside of the area and commute to jobs. KDOM will welcome Drew Hage on Friday, January 14th on our Kaleidoscope Program at 10am on 1580 AM and 103.1 FM as we delve deeper into the needs and solutions of housing in Windom.
