On Tuesday Morning the 29th at 7:50am The Lamberton Police Department and Redwood County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Red Rock Central (RRC) school about threats directed at the Red Rock Central School and staff over social media. The school was put into lockdown until Law Enforcement could investigate. After investigation Law Enforcement were able to determine the source of the threats and a juvenile male was taken into custody and charges are pending. No students or staff were in any danger during the investigation. The school was reopened later in the morning.

On March 24th at approximately 6:50pm Cottonwood County Sheriff Deputy was on routine patrol in the city of Jeffers. While driving east on Whited Street the deputy noticed an individual get into a vehicle that was known to have a canceled driving status. The vehicle drove westbound on Whited Street and the Deputy confirmed the driving status of the individual was Canceled ISP (Inimical to Public Safety). A traffic stop was conducted in the 300 block of Deaver Ave., Jeffers. A 36 yr. old male from Jeffers was arrested for driving Canceled IPS, charges pending.

On March 28th at approximately 545 am dispatch received a report of a suspicious vehicles racing through Westbrook at high rates of speed. One of the vehicles were spotted by a Murray County Deputy who was assisting with the call. That vehicle went south out of Westbrook and was being pursued by Murray County. The second vehicle was spotted and headed west on HWY 30 from Westbrook. A Murray County Deputy as well as a Cottonwood County Deputy pursued the second vehicle.

The First vehicle pursuit came to a stop on County Road 7 just south of Highway 30. There were two occupants in that vehicle. The Driver of that vehicle took off on foot and the passenger stayed with the vehicle, Murray County Deputy detained the passenger. The Passenger was transported to the Westbrook Hospital by the Westbrook Ambulance to be evaluated. The 16 year old male from Champlin MN was arrested for Theft of Motor Vehicle and transported to the Cottonwood County Jail, charges are pending. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been located.

The pursuit of the second vehicle came to a stop in the area of Highway 59/14 in Lyon County. A 16 year old male from Royalton MN was arrested for Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle and transported to the Cottonwood County Jail, charges are pending. This case is still under investigation.

The Cottonwood County Historical Society congratulates the top three individuals whose photographs were chosen by the public in the last show entitled “Give It Your Best Shot: Focus on Cottonwood County

Country Roads”. The top photograph by popular vote was “Autumn Lane” by Stacy Anderson. Second place honors went to Ashley Soleta with her photograph entitled “Dempsey Bridge”. The third place was awarded to Juane Elston with her photograph titled “Well Traveled Road to Grandma & Grandpa’s”. The Cottonwood County Historical Society appreciates all who stopped in the museum and voted for their favorite! The photographs from this show will be featured in a book coming out this summer.
