Windom Police Department had three reports for Saturday May 14th. At 11:30am Officers were called to a non-injury accident at the intersection of 17th Street and 1500 block. Minor Damage was done to both vehicles when a 2012 Chevy SLV Truck backed into a 2014 Ford Edge. At approximately at 7pm Windom Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of 12th Street for a possible domestic where a 43 year old Windom male slapped his 13 year old daughter. The matter is pending review by the County Attorney’s Office. At approximately 10:30pm a Windom Officer was parked at the Methodist Church Parking Lot facing west, observed a vehicle with suspicious driving conduct. After investigating and a traffic stop was done an arrest was made of a 22 year old Windom Male for Gross Misdeameanor DWI pending review by County Attorney’s Office.

Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will hold their regular meeting this morning at 9am in the Cottonwood County Courthouse in Windom.

Jackson County Board of Commissioners and Drainage Authority is meeting this morning at 9am in the Jackson County Resource Center Cafeteria.

Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce will meet Tuesday May 17th at Noon at the Mt Lake City Hall.

Windom City Council will hold their regular meeting this evening at 6:30pm in the Windom City Hall Chambers. A Special meeting will be held on Wednesday May 18th starting at 5pm in front of City Hall for Windom Facility Tours. The Council will be touring the following locations- The Water Plant, Community Center, Tegel’s Park, Cemstone Property Wastewater Plant, Mayflower Park, Street Shop and the Liquor Store.

According to Denise Nichols, City of Windom Finance/Deputy Clerk, the public is invited to attend each site but they must provide their own transportation.

Windom Area School District has announced there will be Defensive Driver Training Courses being offered at the Windom Middle School/High School  Library on Monday June 6th.  Two separate sessions will be offered a Four-hour course will be held from  1 PM – 5 PM or an Eight-hour course will begin at 1 PM and will continue after the 4 hour session. Participants will receive a certificate after attending all portions of the class they registered for. Persons that are 55 or older are eligible for an insurance discount upon completion.

Firearms turkey hunters who have an unused tag from an earlier hunt period can participate in the final hunt period from Wednesday, May 18, through Tuesday, May 31. Hunters may also purchase a license for this time period. Archery-only and youth ages 17 and younger are allowed to hunt during any time period, including the final one. Hunters cannot purchase both a firearms and archery-only license.
