Windom Citywide Cleanup is this Saturday May 21st. Clean-up Day is not for items that will fit in your weekly trash pickup container, those items should be place in your trash container. Items for Citywide Clean-up Day should be placed at the curb by 6:00am on the 21st.

MATTRESS & CAR SEAT RECYCLING is Thursday & Friday, May 19th & 20th, the tag fee is $17.00 for mattress or box spring! If you have either of these for pickup during the cleanup event, you must have purchased a tag by yesterday, May 17 at City Hall. Please keep items dry, stand mattresses on side and place on the curb before 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19th, for pickup. Car seat recycling is free! Mattresses and box springs without tags will NOT be picked up.

APPLIANCES & ELECTRONICS RECYCLING— (FOR THE ENTIRE CITY) Appliances and electronics can be picked up for an additional charge. Tags to pick up these items must have been purchased at City Hall or online by yesterday, May 17, for curb side pickup on or before Saturday, May 21. The cost to recycle these items is: • $10 for water softeners and all appliances with freon including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers. • $10 for Electronics including printers, copiers and scanners. • $10 TVs and monitors CRT (tube) and flat screens, limit 2 tags. Additional tags are $25 each.

Please be courteous if you are out rummaging and put items you don’t want back in their place. Do not leave a mess behind you.

Windom Police Department received a drug complaint on May 16th. It was reported that at approximately 8am they received a report from Windom Area Middle/High School regarding a 15-year-old Windom Student showing signs of impairment. A search with a metal detector located a marijuana vape in the student’s clothing. The student was released to a relative. This was sent to the County Attorney for review of charges and also to DVHHS.

Windom Police Department reported an accident on May 16th during the Noon Hour at 765 2nd Ave. A 1999 Ford Explorer was driving south on 2nd Ave, while moving over on the road to allow a vehicle to pass the Explorer hit an unoccupied parked vehicle owned by Northern States Power Company. Both vehicles received damage but no injuries were reported.

A Community Fellowship Meal is being offered the 4th Thursday of every month in Mountain Lake. The Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake located at 301 9th Street is inviting everyone- Families or individuals who would like to have a meal to come. This FREE meal will be served from 5:30-6:30pm every 4th Thursday. This month’s Community Fellowship Meal will be on May 26th. Tonight, the Windom City Council will meet in front of City Hall at 5pm to begin Windom Facility Tours. If you are interested in touring the following locations: The Water Plant, Community Center, Tegel’s Park, Cemstone Property Wastewater Plant, Mayflower Park, Street Shop and the Liquor Store. The public is invited to participate in the tour but must provide their own transportation.
