The Windom City Council met on Tuesday May 17th. Street Closures were approved for the Bike Rodeo today, and on the 3rd Thursday of each month throughout the summer for Chamber events on the downtown square and 4th Ave. The City of Bingham Lake water purchase agreement was approved. This agreement is from July 2022 until June of 2042. According to Jenny Quade, Board Member, the only changes from years before were setting a water amount per month increase, penalty for going over the use and the rates stayed the same. The Police Chief requested to use ARPA funds the city has received to purchase 4 new mobile radar units and a drone. The 4 radar units are at a cost of $13,320 total. The drone is $6878. According to Quade, discussion was held on how some radar units were not working properly and the possible long wait on getting new ones is why the request was made now instead of waiting for budgeting time later in the year. The drone would be used to assist the fire department, search and rescue calls and various other searches when needed. These purchases were all approved.

The City Council accepted Spencer Winzenried, Community Center Director’s resignation. His last day will be June 2, 2022. And the mayor appointed Dan Hormig, Chaplin at the Good Sam in Windom to the Windom Area Hospital Board.
