Cottonwood County Sheriffs Office reported at approximately 3:45 am on June 4th, Deputies were called to an assault in Jeffers. A 26-year-old female stated a 27-year-old male caused injury to himself punching a glass case and then informed dispatch that the suspect was a 29 year old female. After investigation, it was determined the medical need did not pertain to the assault. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated. The case was sent to the County Attorney for review of possible charges.

Windom Police Department reported on June 4th an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing near Langley Avenue on Highway 71. After investigation, charges are pending on a 51-year-old male from Worthington for Driving after Revocation.  On June 5th, at approximately 4:30am an Officer was dispatched to the area of Lakeview Avenue. The reporting party stated that while at a friends house in the 1000 block of Lakeview the caller stated that he and another female were arguing about keys to a vehicle and he did not want this female to leave due to her drinking. After investigation and traffic stop, charges are pending for Underage Drink and Drive/DWI on a 20-year-old female from Windom for DWI pending the BCA Blood Test Results. Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:30pm to the 700 block of 2nd Ave in Duffy’s parking lot for a concern for welfare. An Officer observed an individual with head facing down at the steering wheel. After investigation, possible 3rd Degree DWI charges are pending on a 21-year-old male from New Richland MN pending review by the County Attorney’s Office.

HyLife, a Premium Pork Producer, in Windom is inviting young and old and everyone in-between to participate in the First Annual HyLife HyFive 5K Community Run on Saturday June 11th. According to Madison Sly, HyLife Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Race Director, the purpose of this event is to bring the community and surrounding areas together for some healthy competition and family fun. Sly went onto say that it doesn’t matter if you are a runner or a walker, this is the event for you. The race will begin at 9am at 904 4th Ave, which is the intersection of 9th Street and 4th Ave by Courthouse Square. The 5K route will take you on a tour of Windom’s beautiful town square, around local schools and past the Des Moines River to the finish line. Cost to enter the HyFive 5K Community Run for 18 years and older is $30 and 17 and under is $20. All proceeds will be donated to the Windom Area Health Foundation. Sly added that Your 5k registration fee will include branded hardware, water bottle, cooling towel, and a drawstring bag to hold it all. The Summer Lunch Program started yesterday. Summer meals are available to all kids 18 and younger at no cost. To eat, just show up at Windom Area Elementary School Cafeteria Serving Area.
