Windom Area Health Wellness Center is inviting everyone to participate in a Lazy Man Triathlon this summer. This is an at-your-own-pace Ironman that consists of a 2.4 mile (3860m) swim or 4.97 mile (8000m) row, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile walk/run over 6 weeks, July 18th through August 26th. According to Wellness Center Supervisor, Lindsey Engler any member of the community can sign-up. Memberships to the Wellness Center are a separate cost for anyone interested. The Windom City Pool does have Adult Swim Hours Monday through Thursday from 5-6pm you can find more information on the Windom City Parks and Recreation Website. Engler did say that Those who choose to complete their distances in a lake or non-standard sized pool will need to be able to track their distance with either a wearable fitness device, or know how many laps equal one mile. If you are interested in registering, Engler said, To register, people can email her at [email protected]   Payments can be made via cash, check, or credit card and a tracking sheet will be sent to participants once  payment is received. Cash or check payments can be mailed in, dropped off at the reception desk at the main entrance, or dropped off in the Wellness Center. For those who would like to pay via card, Englar stated she will email a link to complete payment. Each participant will receive a Massage Recovery kit. Additionally, the first 3 people to turn in their trackers will get a $15, $10, and $5 Amazon gift card, respectively. Early bird registration goes until the end of the month and is $25. Regular registration will be July 1 to July 17 and is $30.

Windom Police department had a report of a disturbance on June 19th at approximately 5 am. Officers responded to what dispatchers described as a possible assault in progress near Casey’s Store. After investigation it was confirmed that nothing more than yelling had occurred.

Also on the 19th, at approximately 6:45am an officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of Cottonwood Lake Drive for a damaged mailbox. The mailbox was intact on Saturday around 4pm and the reporting party stated they did not see or hear when the damage took place but reported there was a wedding dance at the Community Center in the evening of the 18th. The officer took pictures of the box and the surrounding area. No estimate of damages at this time.

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will hold a special work session meeting on Thursday June 23rd at 9am in the Jackson County Courthouse County Board Room located at 405 Fourth Street for the purpose of reviewing & discussing uses for Jackson County’s Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) provided through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
