The 20th Annual Butterfield Summer Sizzler kicks off Friday July 1st through Sunday July 3rd. You are encouraged by the Community of Butterfield to come out Friday night from 5-7 for the Steak Fry! Proceeds for this will go to the Butterfield Fire Department. You will get a 10 oz New York Strip, Baked Potato with the trimmings, green beans, French Bread and a beverage all for $15 per plate. Eat two plates if you dare!!! There will be a Kids Meal for $5 per plate with hot dog, chips and a beverage. You won’t leave hungry and you will be supporting a great cause. Saturday the Big Rig Roundup starts at 10am and tons of activities for little kids and big kids and adult kids!!!! Lots of food options and entertainment all at Voss Park. Tonight, don’t forget is the Windom City Council second half of the Facility Tours. Anyone that would like to attend the tour is more than welcome. Meet in the back parking lot at 5pm. The Council will be touring the following locations- Emergency Services Facility, Library, Police Department, Telecom NOC, Island Park & Pool, Powerhouse, Arena, Airport and the North Windom Industrial Park.

According to Denise Nichols, City of Windom Finance/Deputy Clerk, the public is invited to attend each site, but they must provide their own transportation.

Windom Police Department reported at 4:17 pm on the 27th an Officer responded to the Windom Pool for someone’s vehicle window being broken into. The Windom Resident stated that she was at the Windom Pool and her granddaughter wanted something from the vehicle, upon getting to the car she discovered the broken window. While cleaning up the glass, the victim realized that her purse was missing with cash, debit and credit cards and medical cards missing. Total value of missing items were approximately $60. The victim contacted the Police Department again at a later time and stated that she received a text message from the fraud division of Scheels Credit Card. It had been determined that one of the credit cards had been used at four different stores at various locations. Three Dollar General stores located in Windom, Lakefield, Lake Park IA and an unknown store location. This matter is remains under investigation.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported they have two cases that remain under investigation from the 27th of June. A theft of cash in Jackson and a report of fraud in Jackson also on the 27th Deputies on two separate occasions assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical call.
