Windom Police Department reported on July 1st, at approximately 2pm Officers were called to the 1300 block of 6th Ave for suspicious activity.  During the investigation, it was learned that an older female drove up and asked a child if they wanted to have some fun with the kids in the pool.  The elderly female than drove away in a black SUV.  There was a time delay from when this was reported.  At 8:24 an officer conducted a traffic stop on 6th St. and Des Moines Drive. After investigation, the adult Windom female was arrested for a Redwood County Warrant and new charges in Cottonwood County for Obstructing the Legal process. Later that evening Officers were called the Perkins Creek Apartments to take a report of Harassment.  During the investigation, it was learned that two Juvenile males had made inappropriate comments to other Juveniles. All parents were talked to about appropriate behavior.

ON July 2nd at 1:30pm an officer was dispatched to the intersection of 13th St. and 4th Ave for a male being attacked by a dog.  During the investigation, it was learned that while the Windom male resident was out walking his dog, an aggressive pit bull chased him and his dog.  The owner of the pit bull received a citation for dog at large. Case is being reviewed by City Attorney for possible Dangerous Dog Law. On July 3rd It was reported that in the 2000 block of 17th Street a White Truck with an American Flag in the back window struck a mailbox. The vehicle was found at the 2800 block of Country Club Drive the driver was cited for using cell phone while driving..  On July 4th at 3:24pm a traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 60 by Hylife.  After investigation, a citation was issued to the driver for speed and Drug paraphernalia

Jackson County Sheriff’s office on July 4th responded to a juvenile issue at a park in Jackson. In the early evening at approximately 6pm A deputy transported a 35 year old male from Worthington from the Nobles County Jail to the Jackson County Jail.  The party has a Jackson County warrant for 5th Degree Controlled Substance and is awaiting an Initial Court Appearance. Deputies issued two speeding citations. One at 7pm on County Road 34 west of Jackson for Careless driving and speed of 87 in a 55 mph zone and the other at 9pm on County Road 34 west of MN 86 for Speed of 76 in 55 mph zone. Jackson County Deputies alond with MN State Patrol assisted with traffic control  at the Okabena Independence Day fireworks show at the City Park.  And at 10:30pm a Deputy responded to a fire alarm at a Jackson business.  It was determined to be a false alarm.

The University of Minnesota Extension Beef Team and the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association have teamed up to host the 2022 MN Summer Beef Tour, a fun and educational event where attendees will have the opportunity to visit the UMN St. Paul Campus and the MN Zoo. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Dr. Joe Armstrong, a veterinarian and member of the UMN Extension Beef Team said, “We are excited to partner with the MN State Cattlemen’s Association to host this event. Armstrong went onto say, “We are going to showcase the research, education and outreach work done at the University, all while having fun and providing a place for the MN cattle industry to gather.” Stops on the tour include the UMN Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science, UMN College of Veterinary Medicine, and UMN Forage Research plots. Important to note, the tour includes a visit to the MN Zoo where attendees will have exclusive access to the entire zoo from 4to 8pm. Armstrong stated “Farming is a family endeavor, and we want this event to be family-oriented. The goal is to stay off the bus as much as possible, fill the morning and early afternoon with learning opportunities, and then end the day with something that is just fun and social.” Anyone interested in attending should meet at the MN Zoo. Check-in opens at 6:00 a.m. and all buses will leave at 7:00 a.m. Buses are scheduled to return to the MN Zoo around 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online for $30 per person by visiting z.umn.edu/MNSummerBeefTour or at the door. Lunch and supper are included.
