Tonight is the NIGHT!!!! Don’t forget to come meet the MN Vikings Legend Chuck Foreman at the Windom Community Center from 6-9 pm. The doors open at 5:30 and the program starts at 6pm. After Chuck’s presentation he will be signing autographs, which are free and taking pictures for $5.00. There will also be Vikings memorabilia for sale. Included in the evening festivities will be 2 Silent Auctions for autographed jerseys. Admission is $5.00.

Mountain Lake Police Department had 12 reports over the past week. Officers advised parties on how to handle computer and phone scams. An officer took a complaint of a parking violation at the intersection of 7th Street South and Mountain Lake Road. A dog at Large at the intersection of 1st Ave and 8th Street, a parking violation, an unauthorized vehicle in the Mountain Lake Baseball Field and cited two unlawful drivers. On the 19th an officer conducted a welfare check on a driver in a vehicle close to Maynard’s Food Center in Mt Lake in which an Ambulance was called. On the 20th an officer took a report of a cougar roaming near town. This report was not confirmed. On the 21st an Officer assisted Estherville Police Department from Iowa with locating a stolen vehicle. On the 22nd a theft report of a stolen Hometown Garbage Bin was taken and on the 23rd Mt Lake Police Department assisted another agency with a School Bus Stop Arm/Light Violation.

Windom Area Health is offering a new Healthy Together Class starting on October 11th. This class is group setting that focuses on overall wellness and habits. Cost is $50 per person which includes six sessions, free Wellness Center Membership for the length of the program, personalized tracking tools, access to a Registered Dietitian along with working with a Certified Personal Trainer, and more! Are you a birder? The MN DNR has so many wonderful programs and information located on their website. According to the MN DNR, some birders consider October the best time of year to see rare and unusual species. Sandhill cranes are preparing for migration, and they are an awesome sight as they gather in fields and wetlands. Groups of larger raptors are abundant at Hawk Ridge and along the Mississippi Flyway. Find out how to identify these birds in flight. October is a lovely and colorful time of year — consider adding a fall color drive to your next birding trip!
