Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 29th of September at approximately 7am The Lakefield Ambulance and Lakefield Fire Dept. were dispatched to a one vehicle accident with injuries on I-90 near milepost 58.  Then close to 4pm The Jackson Fire Dept. was paged to a bean field fire in Des Moines Township southwest of Jackson.  Crews were on scene for about 1 hour.

Windom Police Department received a report of an attempted burglary on the 29th at Enspired located at 960 4th Ave. The owner reported that she had not been at the business since Saturday, but when she arrived on this day, she observed that the lock to the front door had been popped out. There is unknown amount of damage at this time. This remains under investigation.

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on September 28th. Discussion was held on residents with appliances stored outside their homes. The Council decided the clerk will send letters to owners of inoperable vehicles within city limits. The Winter Snow Agreement was received from the Cottonwood County Highway Department and the Council approved said agreement. A planning meeting for the city celebration was set to be held at City Hall on Tuesday October 4th at 7 p.m.

September Weather Stats   10/1/22

The monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom in September.  The information is compiled by a local weather observer and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls.  It was a very dry September this year. We received fifty-six hundredths of an inch of precipitation with thirty-five hundredths reported on one day, September 10th.  We received about two and a half inches less this year than we did in 2021.  For the year we are just over three inches behind last year. The high temperature for the month was 98 degrees on September 21st the average high for the month was 77.6 degrees.  The low temperature for September was 36 degrees on 28th.

Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will hold their regular meeting tomorrow morning at 9am in the Cottonwood County Courthouse in Windom.  After all regular meeting agenda items are discussed, the meeting will be closed to discuss strategy for labor negotiations.

Jackson County Board of Commissioners and Drainage Authority will meet on Tuesday, October 4th at 9am in the Jackson County Courthouse Commissioners Board Room.

Red Rock Central School District Board of Education will have a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 5th at 5pm in the Superintendent’s Office located in the Red Rock Central Public School, Lamberton.
