Santa’s workshop for Kids sponsored by the Windom Women of Today, will be at the BARC Library located at 1012 5th Ave in Windom on Saturday December 3rd from 11am to 3pm.  All kids are welcome to shop for gifts under $5. Santa will be available for visits from Noon to two in the BARC gym during the Winter Wonderland Craft Show!  Santa’s Workshop is still looking for donations of new or gently used items for all ages and also looking for donations of Christmas wrapping paper, gift bags and name tags. Donations can be dropped off in designated areas outside of the BARC Library. Donation Deadlines are Friday December 2nd.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on the 24th, Deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover on CR 5 about 1 mile north of the Iowa border.  Steven Bringhurst, age 80, from Box Elder, SD was travelling southbound on CR 5 in a 2014 Volkswagen Passat.  Bringhurst swerved to avoid a deer and entered the west ditch.  The vehicle continued over a driveway to a residence and struck a John Deere tractor that was parked in the driveway.  The Passat then rolled onto its roof.  The Round Lake Rescue Squad and Worthington Ambulance responded to the scene.  Bringhurst was transported to the Worthington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Carol Bringhurst, also from Box Elder, SD, was a front seat passenger and was also transported by ambulance to the Worthington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Both the Passat and tractor received heavy damage.  Warmka Towing assisted at the scene.

On the 23rd at 8:35am a Deputy responded to a report of a fraudulent check passed at a local bank.  It is part of a much broader fraudulent check scheme involving multiple other towns in the area.  The matter remains under investigation. In the evening a deputy investigated a report of a catalytic converter stolen off a parked vehicle in the northern part of the county.

On the 21st at 10:23pm a deputy responded to a report of a person wearing a sweatshirt with the hood up, wearing a backpack, and rummaging through unlocked vehicles in downtown Jackson.  The matter remains under investigation.

Windom Police Department reported on the 22nd at 6:51am officers were called to AG Builders in the 1800 block of 1st Avenue North in Windom for a commercial business alarm. Upon arrival and investigation, officers did find a broken garage door window on the east side of the building. Once the owner arrived a walk through the building was done. There was no signs of any entry and all locks were secure. The owner was going to view cameras to see if anyone intentionally broke the windows.
