Windom Police Department reported on November 3rd an Officer spoke with a Windom Resident concerning their mail being tampered with. The Victim went to his mailbox at approximately 2:30pm in the 100 block of 6th Ave to check the mailbox and found mailbox locked. The Package inside was cut open and no items were in the container. Missing are 100-200 gaming trading cards valued between $300-$500 dollars.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported at 12:23 pm on the 2nd, The Jackson Fire Dept. was paged to a grass fire south of Jackson.  The Alpha Fire Dept. was also paged for mutual aid.  Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half. Then at 5:26 PM The Lakefield Fire Dept. responded to a report of a grove on fire Northeast of Lakefield.  A fire that was tended to by them the night before rekindled and started some trees on fire.  Crews were on scene for about a half hour. At 5:41 PM Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Jackson.  After investigating, a 39-year-old male from Jackson was arrested for Domestic Assault. On the 3rd at 7:42am and 10:09am Deputies assisted the Heron Lake Police Department with a domestic disturbance. At 2:06 PM Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Jackson.  After investigating, a 31-year-old male from Jackson was arrested for Domestic Assault. And then at approximately 5pm a deputy responded to a burglary alarm in Weiner Township.

Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce will hold a special Board meeting on Thursday November 10th at Noon in the Mountain Lake City Hall

Construction on Highway 86 through Lakefield is complete, and The Detour for Highway 86 Lakefield project was removed as of  November 3rd, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. 

Traffic had been detoured since mid-April for reconstruction of 1.3 miles of Highway 86. The project included grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage, and sidewalk reconstruction. 

Benefits of the project includes improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor.

Windom Area School will begin their first series of Family Engagement Night on November 15th. Officer Dana Wallace will be presenting a session on Internet Safety. The topics discussed will not be for students. There will be childcare available in the Elementary school gym during the presentation. Everyone is invited to come for the free supper and great learning. Supper will be served from 5:45-6:15pm and the presentation will run from 6:15-7pm.
