Windom Police Department reported on the 3rd at approximately 9:30am officers were alerted by panic alarm set off by a paraprofessional at the Windom Area Middle/High School due to a 13-year-old students escalating behavior. Officer tried to grab the student to stop him from hurting anyone else but he pulled away. Student then assaulted SRO by biting her, breaking the skin along with throwing rocks at the SRO and Principal. Charges for review by County Attorney are 4th Degree Assault of a Peace Officer and 5th Degree Assault to the Principal.

On the 7th at about 10:30am an officer was requested by the staff to the Red Rock Ridge ALC School. A 13-year-old juvenile male was assaulting the staff. After investigation, the juvenile was transported to the Law Enforcement Center and later to the Prairie Lakes Juvenile facility and the case forwarded to County Attorney Office for review. Charges filed on Juvenile for Five Counts of 5th Degree Assault-Inflicting or Attempting Bodily Harm on FIVE separate staff members.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported  on:

11-6 Sunday 11:22 AM  The Nobles County Dispatch received a 911 call of two duck hunters whose boat was taking on water in Round Lake which is in Jackson County.  The Round Lake Rescue Squad and a deputy responded to the area.  The two hunters were travelling across the lake in a 13 foot flat bottom boat when it began to take on water from the high waves.  They were able to make it to shore prior to the arrival of rescue personnel.  There were no injuries.

 

5:05 PM  The Alpha Fire Dept. responded to a grass fire in the ditch along CR 29 outside of Alpha.  Crews were on scene for about 20 minutes.

 

11-7 Monday 7:42 PM  A deputy responded to a vehicle vs. deer crash on Okabena Road south of Okabena.

 

9:25 AM  Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Jackson.  After investigating, a 27 year old female from Jackson was arrested for Domestic Assault.

 

1:23 PM  Deputies responded to a landlord/tenant issue in Jackson.

Minnesota State Patrol reported an injury accident on the 6th. At approximately 5:20pm a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 31-year-old male from Fulda was northbound on US HWY 59 in Slayton Township, when the Pontiac left the road and rolled. The male was taken to Murray County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Outside agencies assisting were Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Slayton Police Department, Murray County Ambulance and Murray County Fire Department.
